Mirwaiz prays for a strong and stable Pakistan

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M) (APHC-M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has written a letter to the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Salman Bashir briefing him about the prevailing situation in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK).

An APHC spokesman in statement issued in Srinagar said that the letter was handed over to the Pakistan High Commissioner by senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in New Delhi during the Pakistan Day function.

In the letter, Mirwaiz on behalf of Hurriyat and Kashmiri people, prayed for a sustainable, stable and progressive Pakistan, the statement added.

Meanwhile, a Hurriyat spokesman denounced the police crackdown on youth in Kashmir, especially in Srinagar. The police are conducting nocturnal raids during which they terrorize people and ransack their belongings. Lethal gases like pepper gas are adding to the woes of people. People are complaining of various diseases due to frequent use of pepper gas, the statement said.

The police are giving a collective punishment to the people who are demanding end to oppression.

The spokesman in the statement said that such repressive measures were initiated by the authorities to break the will of Kashmiris. But such aggressive policies wont prevent people from pursuing their cherished goal of freedom, he said.

Meanwhile, on the instruction of the APHC Chairman, a delegation led by Ghulam Qadir Beigh visited Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta and took stock of the situation after 31 residential houses were gutted on Saturday. The delegation expressed sympathy with the victims and stressed their immediate rehabilitation.

Sonia playing down the situation in Kashmir, says Geelani

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: A day after the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi expressed satisfaction over what she said “remarkable progress” made in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that Sonia is deliberately playing down the situation in OSJK to conceal the realities.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a statement in Srinagar said, “The statement of Gandhi (Sonia) is nothing but a crude joke with the people of Kashmir. The drama is enacted with an eye on the next year’s General Elections.”

Sonia has expressed satisfaction over “remarkable progress” made in the territory but emphasised the need to “take note of the cry of pain and anguish” emanating from the people.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, demanded the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

If Congress president is sincere in resolving Kashmir issue then she should accept the demand of the Kashmiris on priority and return the mortal remains to their families,” Geelani said.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is also the President of Jammu & Kashmir Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH), said that since the Congress president herself was a woman she can well understand the pain of a woman who was even not allowed to meet her husband prior to his execution, Geelani referred to the widow of Muhmammad Afzal Guru.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani criticised the Congress for continuation of the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

3 Indian soldiers injured in fighting with Mujahadeen

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), at least three Indian army soldiers are critically injured in a fight with Mujahadeen e Kashmir in Srinagar district.

The Mujahadeen conducted an attack on Indian army in Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday morning, officials said.

They said the injured personnel were rushed to the hospital and search operations have been launched against Mujahadeen e Kashmir.

India is occupying OSJK since 66 years through use of its military. The Kashmiri never accepted Indian occupation and since then, struggling for the right of self-determination.

Kashmir is an un-resolved part of dividing Hindustan into India and Pakistan. The people of Kashmir want to join Pakistan while India is trying to force them to become part India using its armed forces.

Hundreds of thousands of innocent Kashmiris are killed by Indian army so far, while 10s of thousands of Kashmiri women were raped by the same Indian army.

Hats off to Mr. Asif Ali Zardari

By Ch. Sajjad Ahmad:

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that the policies of education tolerance and stability of the President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari are proven on right path after 5 years.

There is not doubt that, at least, this time Mr. Prime Minister has spoken the truth and delighted the nation with and only with the truth about the policies of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari on education, Tolerance and stability.

As far as education is concern, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari had made sure that no office of the government, during his rule would be able to develop and deploy the educational policies of the country according to the wishes of Pakistan.

As per wishes of his foreign masters, who in return assured him the security and safety of his looted wealth in his foreign bank accounts, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari gave free hands to their educational experts to transform the nation’s educational system to support the liberal values and religion and national integrity had taken completely off the priority list.

Further consolidation has been done to this Ibleesee educational system by decentralising it. Under the rule of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, the government school systems are further destroyed and free play is allowed to private education systems, which are mostly foreign affiliated and specifically designed on class or ethnic bases, such as those under Agha Khan, Roots, Educators and Beacon House.

After such a hard work has been done by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, it was evident that these educational policies of his regime in Pakistan will see nothing but success.

Although, a minor (or major) blame could also be accepted by all of us who voted them and elected them to rule this country, established on the name of Islam, execute such a successful educational policy. Who cares if this educational policies of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari suite the moral, national, social or, most importantly, religious needs of the country or not. It was, and we should acknowledge it open heartedly, a successful educational policy, whether it was, or is, in favour of the nation or not. This is completely a separate debate, by the way.

On the second front, tolerance, Mr. Asif Ali Zardaris regime proven itself the best of all. And there is no doubt into it. It was his tolerance, actually a very high level of tolerance, which made it possible for him to complete his five-year tenure.

Even knowing the fact that Karachi is bleeding due to heavily armed political parties in the city, he tolerated. He tolerated till today and will keep tolerating them for as long as he is in office. He knew that one of his ally, MQM, is directly involved in various criminal and terrorist activities, but, for the sake of his “bacha” government in Sindh, he tolerated them.

He also knew that, including his own PPP, MQM and ANP not only involved in killings of each other’s workers (target killing) but they are also targeting other parties and groups, such as religious scholars. He must have been given a report by the concerned intelligence agencies on the daily basis. But he decided to tolerate and tolerated successfully.

He also knew that every single MPA in Balochistan is also a minister, which is becoming yet another reason of Pakistan bashing in the world and this is happening under his own “bacha” government in Balochistan. He decided to tolerate that too and we all know, he succeeded there too.

Mr. Asif Ali Zardari also tolerated ANP in Sarhad province and pleased them with name change, which was actually a step further for the followers and preachers of Ghaffar khan.

Mr. Asif Ali Zardari also tolerated death and destruction in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), where more than 7,00,000 Indian army men are given free hand to destroy any house, kill any Kashmiri and rape any of their sisters and daughters.

It is the fruit of his tolerance that today Pakistan is giving business to the same Hindu chankyas, who are killing our brothers and raping our sisters in OSJK.

Therefore, his tolerance will be remembered as long as the humanity exists.

Now comes the matter of stability. Well, if you thinking about the national stability, you are wrong. He never dared to care that. It is about the stability of his own polity and then stability of his growing financial wealth.

Mr. Asif Ali Zardari knew that educated and peaceful Pakistani nation will never be helpful for his vested interests. Therefore, in order to secure his polity and to avail future opportunities of looting more national wealth to further stabilise his finances, he ruined our education system and provided full access to liberal fascists to destroy every fabric of Islami society in Pakistan.

He further strengthened armed political parties like MQM and ANP, including his own PPP, worked fully against the national interests and tried his best to malign the guardians of geographical and ideological boundaries of Pakistan.

Mr. Asif Ali Zardari also tolerated of harbouring Pakistani criminals and terrorists by its enemies like India, Israel and USA in Afghanistan, Europe and America. All these factors have played key role in his stability and in the stability of his looted wealth in western countries.

Hats off to him.

PML(N) manifesto welcomed

Special Report by Brig. (Retd) Usman Khalid, Director Rifah Institute of Foreign Affairs (RIFA)

The manifesto of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) shows the party has competent professionals in its economic team.

I read the manifesto of PML(N) and I was surprised that it is more than a wish list that election manifestos usually are. It is a list of objectives and outline of strategy, which is what a manifesto ought to be. I am particularly impressed with the fact that PML(N) has grasped the idea that socio-economic development is driven and accelerated by setting lofty objectives and then creating the wherewithal for achieving those objectives. The performance of PML(N) in office supports the conclusion that it has grasped how a course for development is charted and pursued. During its brief stints in office in the past, the Party built the first motorway and that also without borrowing from the World Bank or the ADB. During its five years in office in the Punjab Province, the party completed the Metrobus project and the Ring Road in Lahore, and undertook Daanish Schools and several other projects, all of which have been designed to high specification and built to international standards. This is the approach taken by China which has enabled the country to catch up and in some areas even surpass the developed world in about 25 years. That the leadership team of PML(N) is eager and able to follow that formula augurs well for Pakistan.

My objective here is not to praise the Manifesto but to point towards areas where I feel the manifesto is inadequate:

Although the economic team appears to be well aware of the internal and international instruments available to increase investment, the target for annual GDP growth is low i.e. 6%. It could easily be 8+% per annum (p.a.).

The budget deficit at present is 6+% p.a. The manifesto objective is to lower it 4%. To arrest inflation, it needs to be lowered even further to 3%.

The target for inflation has been set at 7-8% which is much lower than what it is now but it needs to come down to international norm – 4-5% – and a strategy for lower discount rate should be outlined to achieve that.

There should be a target for exchange rate. Rs 75 to a US Dollar over three years is recommended.

The manifesto objective is to increase the tax to GDP ratio from the present 9% to 15%. However, no economic strategy or tax changes have been outlined. What is confusing is that lower taxation is also a manifesto objective, which would reduce the ratio, not increase it. Increase in import duties in tune with appreciation of the Rupee and lowering the threshold for Income Tax to 300,000 p.a. is recommended to achieve the higher ratio.

The target of industrial growth is set at 7-8%, which is low. The idea of clusters is a good one. But more clusters e.g. for pharmaceutical industry in Lahore and chemical industry in Potohar and Thar may be added. Industrial clusters in combination with new cities and towns are the idea by which China has maintained double digit growth rate.

National Health Service. It is welcome that the idea of NHS has been embraced. But the outline provided in the manifesto indicates that the PML(N) proposes to organise it on American lines based on Health Insurance. The American system is the most expensive in the world and yet it does not provide free service to ALL at the point of delivery, which is the principle on which NHS is organised in the UK and Europe. NHS in Pakistan must be based on free service except for medicines. Since funds for a completely free service may not be available with provinces, the GP services may be funded by a standard uniform charge of say Rs 50 per person per month. Those unable to pay the monthly charge for their family and for medicines may be helped by payment directly from Zakat.

Local Government. It is not clear from the manifesto what system of local government is preferred or prescribed by PML(N). There is no need to hurry. It should be considered by a Commission of experts perhaps alongside proposals for new or redefined provinces.

New Provinces. The support of PML(N) to three new provinces one carved out of KPK and two from the Punjab shows that the Party is not fully aware of the agenda of those who have raised the demand in the first place. The agenda is based on research by US think tanks and India RAW. They fund individuals and parties which campaign for Karachi to be separated from Sindh and the Seraiki speaking area separated from the Punjab. Their line of argument is as follows:

Pakistan is primarily rural. It is rural Pakistan that puts a party in power but it is agitation in the cities which destabilises and removes a government. However, the complexion of the population of cities and surrounding area is more or less the same. It is only the city of Karachi where the majority in the City is Mohajir but the people in the surrounding area are mostly Sindhi. Therefore, even a popular government can be destabilised, discredited and removed from power by Mohajir of Karachi. After decades of effort, RAW and the CIA were able to create a surrogate in the shape of the MQM to achieve a capability to remove even a popular Administration. It is in their role as RAW surrogate that they oppose the Kalabagh Dam, support Seraiki province and autonomy for provinces on the lines of Sheikh Mujibs Six Points.

The largest province of Pakistan before 1971 was East Pakistan. The Hindu minority had influence over education, the press and the judiciary which it used to plant and popularise the idea that the Bengalis were oppressed and exploited. We know the result; the lies were not nailed and falsehood prevailed in East Pakistan. Now the Punjab is the largest province but it is so committed to the unity of the nation and integrity of the country that it has willingly made sacrifice of its share of water in the 1991 Water Accord and the new NFC Award. Unless separatism becomes acceptable to the largest province a country cannot be broken up. CIA surrogates were placed in position of power and influence in erstwhile Soviet Union to get Russia, which was the largest province, to opt for the break up of the Soviet Union. But the CIA and RAW surrogates did not succeed in the Punjab. They have reached the conclusion that the Punjab must be broken up before Pakistan breaks up.

Today, opposition to the break up of Sindh and Punjab is test a party must pass to establish its credentials as patriotic. I do not believe the PML(N) is not patriotic; but it can be misguided into believing and supporting the break of the Punjab. It must take notice of the agenda of the enemy before it writes such ill considered points in its manifesto. The provincial boundaries are a product of history and entail more heartburn in changing them than even a countrys boundaries. This was said by a person no less than Late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto when opposing One Unit in West Pakistan. What is perhaps the best solution is to create another tier of government wilayat – between the province and the district under a Wali or Lieutenant Governor responsible for land revenue and records and law and order.

Foreign Policy. Defence, security and foreign policy is the weakest part of the manifesto. It appears that the policy team in such fields is either non-existent or inadequate. The blunders during Kargil War in the last PML(N) Administration revealed weaknesses in the very same area. Besides, the centrality of the Kashmiri struggle for self determination has not been recognised in the formulation of foreign policy. Objectives and strategy in defence and foreign policy are conspicuous by their absence. Surprisingly, the EU, ECO, SAARC, ASEAN and SCO have been listed as if all were equal in importance to Pakistan. The fact is that SAARC groups unlike peoples with divergent interests which is used by India as an instrument of regional hegemony whereas ECO is group of ten Muslim nations with complementary interests which should have drawn more attention in the manifesto. I would recommend that Union of ECO states on the lines of the EU should be among the top foreign policy objectives alongside the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir. The importance of the liberation of J&K has become even more important as India has started building more than 100 dams in J&K in violation of the Indus Basin treaty. The Union of ECO States should be the prime plank of defence and security policy.

Baluchistan. The write up on Baluchistan in the manifesto is disappointing. It relies on the media line that the present situation is the product of neglect and mal-treatment of the Baloch tribes. Presenting late Nawab Akbar Bugti and angry Baluch as a heroes and the Army as the villain is pregnant with great risks for the future. The manifesto ignores the actual facts that; 1) the Baluch are a minority in the province and the Pashtun the majority and there is no insurgency in Pashtun areas; 2) even in the areas inhabited by Baluch tribes, Nasirabad Division and the coastal belt are largely peaceful and the people see the angry Baluch leaders as foreign agents and a menace against who they seek protection of the federal government which has not been forthcoming; 3) even in Marri-Bugti areas and Mengal tribesmen alternative leadership has since emerged which is loyal to Pakistan but is afraid that Mian Nawaz Sharif may abandon them as he is obviously close to the discarded leaders who hope to ride back to prominence and power on his shoulders. If the PML(N) follows the policy on Baluchistan that Mian Nawaz Sharif has often voiced, his future Administration is likely to be on the wrong side of not only the military but also the Baluch who are loyal to Pakistan.

PML(N) manifesto is a well considered document which gives confidence that the party has a good economic management team. Its inadequacies are easily remedied by including more persons with experience and insight into defence and security matters and foreign policy.

Indian anti-Pakistan role in Afghanistan

By Sajjad Shaukat

A recently released video by Washington Free Beacon pointed out that the US new Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel disclosed during a speech at Oklahomas Cameron University in 2011, India has always used Afghanistan as a second front and has over the years financed problems for Pakistan on that side of the border.

Earlier, the then NATO commander in Afghanistan, Gen. McChrystal had revealed: Indian political and economic influence is increasing in Afghanistanis likely to exacerbate regional tensions.

These remarks are quite sharp to some of American top officials who had been accusing Pakistan of cross-border terrorism in Afghanistan. During his trip to India and Kabul, last year, US ex-Secretary of Defence Leon Panetta revived similar old blame game against Pakistan. He also encouraged New Delhi on October 26, 2012, saying that India has vital role to play in Afghanistan and it will be helpful for peace and stability in the region, adding, Our new defence policy hinges upon this strategy.

The US which signed an agreement of strategic partnership with Afghanistan, has finally decided to keep around 10,000 troops and six military bases in that country permanently after the complete withdrawal of NATO forces. In fact, America seeks to obtain multiple strategic designs by controlling the energy resources of Central Asia, and weakening Pakistan, China, Iran and Russia.

In this respect, by availing the golden opportunity of the 9/11, India has left no stone unturned in getting its hold in Afghanistan by manipulating US strategy. In this regard, stiff resistance of the Taliban militants against the occupying forces created unending lawlessness in the country which has become a most suitable place for Indian secret agency RAW to implement a conspiracy to fulfill its countrys strategic designs against Iran, China and particularly Pakistan, while achieving collective goals of the US against these countries including Russia.

However, India which has already invested billion of dollars in Afghanistan, signed a wide-ranging strategic agreement with that country on October 5, 2011 also includes to help train Afghan security forces, while assisting Kabul in diversified projects. Apparently, it is open strategic agreement, but secretly, India seeks to further strengthen its grip in Afghanistan to get strategic depth against Islamabad.

Besides, with the cooperation of Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Afghan intelligence-National Directorate of Security (NDS), and with the tactical assistance of American CIA and Israeli Mossad, RAW has well-established anti-Pakistan espionage network in Afghanistan. For this sinister move, a religious Madrassa of Wakhan, located in Afghanistan is functioning under the patronage of Indian officials. It is being used for brainwashing of very young boys who are Afghans and so-called Indian Muslims. Posing themselves as Pakistani Taliban, they have joined the ranks and files of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and other banned extremist outfits. In this context, Indias several secret training camps are also present in Afghanistan from where highly trained militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons are being sent to Pakistans various places to conduct target killings, bomb blasts, suicide attacks, assaults on civil and military installations including religious leaders to foment sectarian violence.

Particularly, RAW has perennially been arranging similar subversive acts in Balochistan through their affiliated militant groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Jundollah (Gods soldiers) and other Baloch separatist elements. India is also in collusion with the Balochi separatist leaders who took shelter in Afghanistan. For example, on July 23, 2008, in an interview with the BBC from Afghanistan, Brahmdagh Bugti had stated that they have the right to accept foreign arms and ammunition from anywhere including India.

Notably, in the recent years, a series of international conferences were held in order to bring stability and peace in Afghanistan before the foreign troops commence withdrawal from that country in 2013, which would be completed in 2014. For this purpose, US-led developed nations also pledged billions of dollars for the development of Afghanistan. A recent meeting of NATO defence minsters, held in Brussels, decided a sum of $6.5bn for that war-torn country.

Besides, American top officials have repeatedly agreed that without the help of Islamabad, stability cannot be achieved in Afghanistan. Pakistan is also facilitating US-backed dialogue with the Afghan Taliban. Besides, NATO has started moving its equipments via Pakistani route.

Nevertheless, taking note of Indian negative approach, in the recent past, US Senator John McCain reminded the Obama administration that encouraging India to take a more active role in Afghanistan, while simultaneously criticising Pakistan could be a recipe for disaster.

In fact, India wants instability in Afghanistan, which favours its secret goals against Pakistan. But Pakistan seeks stability in Afghanistan, which is not possible owing to Indian presence in that country. Therefore, Pakistan has legitimate concerns in Afghanistan.

It is notable that that Pakistans civil and military leadership has repeatedly pointed out Indian interference, cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan including TTP location there, but US-led NATO and Afghan top officials have taken no action. And Federal Minister Rehnam Malik has openly remarked that based in Afghanistan, RAW has been supporting subversive activities in Pakistan.

Nonetheless, in the post-2014 scenario, despite the presence of American troops on small scale, New Delhi which has been assisting the Northern Alliance against the Afghan militants will not be in a position to maintain its network due to successful guerrilla warfare of the Taliban. Afghanistan will be thrown in an era of uncertainty and civil war. In that drastic situation, foreign donors will not be able to sustain their economic aid in that lawless country.

By showing realistic approach, US and other western countries should realise that unlike India, Pakistan shares common geographical, historical, religious and cultural bonds with Afghanistan, while there is a co-relationship of stability in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which is essential for their global and regional interests. And by abandoning its faulty strategy in this region and double game with Islamabad, especially America must check Indian anti-Pakistan role in Afghanistan.

India crossed all limits of cruelty, Says Geelani

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that India and its puppet authorities in OSJK have crossed all limits of cruelty in Kashmir by resorting to killings, frequent arrests, use of pepper gas and ransacking of residential houses.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is under house arrest in Srinagar after his arrival from New Delhi on Thursday, in a media interview via phone said that arrests, curfews and restrictions could not weaken the Kashmiris resolve for their fight against Indian repression.

The battle we are fighting is between truth and injustice. History is testimony to the fact that truth has always prevailed. I am sure victory will be ours, the APHC Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said.

Geelani aid that Kashmir is witnessing the fallout of the secret hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru that a youth from Pulwama was murdered at Hyderabad in India and another youth was killed in cold blood in Baramulla town.

He said, Everybody is aware of the treatment meted out to me in New Delhi. I was put under house arrest for 19 days. Such were the restrictions on me that policemen stayed inside my room for 32 hours.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that Indian army is not only on the killing spree in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK) but also arresting minors and even ransacking the public property.

Geelani said that the blood of martyrs would not be allowed to go waste.

The Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH) spokesman, Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ganai, in a media interview said that Indian armed forces have arrested Kashmiri youth and an aged man Muhammad Yasin Malik for raising pro-freedom slogans on the arrival of Syed Ali Shah Geelani at the Srinagar airport. He strongly condemned the arrests and the highhandedness of police.

In the meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL) and the Jamaat e Islami of Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK) have said that the Indian government and its puppet authorities are suppressing the people of Kashmir through use of brute force.

The DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Kashmiris demand for return of mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru from New Delhis Tihar Jail to the territory was gaining momentum with every passing day but the authorities were trying to suppress the legitimate and democratic demand of people by dint of force.

The JKPFL spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the killing of a youth, Tahir Ahmad Sofi, in Baramulla by Indian troops with indiscriminate firing and arrest of students by the Indian police. He said that such tactics could not demoralize the people of Kashmir and they would continue their struggle for securing their right to self-determination till complete success.

He appealed to the international human rights organisations to impress upon India to stop its state terrorism in the Occupied Kashmir, OSJK. He also urged the United Nations to take serious and solid steps for peaceful settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

The Jamaat e Islami of OSJK in its statement strongly denounced the arrest spree started by the Indian authorities in OSJK. It said that hundreds of innocent people mostly youth had been apprehended and they were being subjected to physical torture in various police stations and interrogation centre.

The Jamaat also condemned the house arrest of the Chairman of APHC, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on his return from New Delhi. It said that all these actions were anti-democratic and symbol of autocracy. It demanded an immediate halt to Indian state terrorism in the territory.

MMM Denounces stepped up Indian state terrorism in OSJK

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), Muttahida Majlis e Mushawrat (MMM), has strongly condemned the reign of terror and suppression let loose by India and its puppet authorities in OSJK.

The MMM in a statement issued in Srinagar said, Such repressive measures by India had neither dampened the courage and spirit of people in the past nor will do it in future. It said that the Indian government tried these repressive tactics in 2008, 2009 and 2010, but it could never dampen the freedom sentiment.

The statement pointed out that on one hand, the pro-India politicians were in the forefront of perpetrating all atrocities on people, while one the other, they were shedding crocodile tears in the so-called Kashmir Assembly.

Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat (MMM), is the representative forum of pro-liberation organizations spearheading the campaign of return of the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhis Tihar Jail to Kashmir.

The Grand Mufti of Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), Mufti Bashir-ud-Din, terming the current situation in the territory as extremely grim has said that the government of India has once again set Kashmir on fire.

The Grand Mufti in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the killing of Tahir Rasool Sofi by Indian troops in Baramulla and hanging of research scholar, Mudasir Kamran, in Hyderabad, India, seemed to be connected incidents.

The Government of India continues with its policy of treating Kashmiris as bonded slaves and subjecting them to the worst suppression and repression. Sometimes it plays political gimmicks and sometimes it uses worst repressive measures to realize its interest, he stated.

Mufti Bashir-ud-Din denounced the use of indiscriminate force by Indian police and troops against peaceful protesters and imposition of curfew and restrictions in the occupied Valley. We also condemn smashing doors and windowpanes of houses in different areas of the Valley by the armed forces, he added.

Kashmiris to protest to get Guru remains back.

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Muttahida Majlis e Mashawrat (United Advisory Council) constituted by pro-liberation organisations has issued a five-day protest calendar to seek the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhis Tihar Jail to Kashmir.

the MMM announced the protest calendar after a meeting in Srinagar attended by the representatives of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) led by the prominent Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Jamaat-e-Islami of OSJK, Kashmir High Court Bar Association and other organisations.

A statement issued by the MMM after the meeting said that there would be a sustained campaign to seek the mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru from Government of India. It urged the people to observe a complete strike on Friday and stage protests after congregational prayers. The Imams of masjids should make people aware of the present situation like the life sentences awarded to people of Kashmir, it added.

As per calendar, lawyers will stage protests on Wednesday and raise slogans like we want freedom and return the remains of martyrs. On Thursday, people of South Kashmir will hold protests at district headquarters of Islamabad, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam, demanding the mortal remains of Butt and Guru during the protests.

On Saturday (March 2), people have been asked to hoist red-ribbons on houses, vehicles and shops. The red ribbons would be a reminder of the blood of thousands of martyrs, the statement said. It urged the people to compensate the Friday strike by normal business on Sunday (March 3).

We request the people of Kashmir to follow the protest calendar religiously, the statement added.

Senior APHC leader and the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Yasmeen Raja, along with a party delegation visited the residences of Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru and a 9th class student, Ubair Ahmad Rather, who was killed by Indian army during protest against Gurus hanging, in Sopore to express solidarity with the bereaved families.

A spokesman for the Muslim Khwateen Markaz in a statement in Srinagar said that Yasmeen Raja denounced Indias fascist tactics to suppress the Kashmiris liberation struggle.

She assured the family members of Muhammad Afzal Guru that a joint strategy would be worked out to press India for return of his body to the occupied territory from New Delhis Tihar Jail.

Inqilabi concerend over Indian Anti-Kashmir policies

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (APHC), APHC leader and the Chief Patron of Jammu and Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA), Muhammad Azam Inqilabi, has expressed serious concern over increase in anti-Kashmir actions of Indian government.

Muhammad Azam Inqilabi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India hanged Afzal Guru to intimidate the Kashmiris into submission. He said that arrogant Indian leaders should understand that they could not achieve anything by martyring lakhs of Kashmiris. He said that New Delhi had broken all records of brutalities in OSJK.

Kashmiris on either side of the LoC hate Indian occupation and there is deep seated alienation against its rule, he said, adding that this alienation among Kashmiri youth would erupt like a volcano and Indian guns would not be able to stop the tide then.

The APHC leader deplored that New Delhi had started tightening noose around pro-resistance leadership. Be it Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Dr Qasim, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Masarrat Aalam, they all are identity of Kashmiri nation.

The MeA patron extended his support to the programmes announced by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat constituted by the pro-liberation organisations to seek the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.

He said that the Kashmiris would continue their struggle till the objective of right of self-determination was realized. He also urged the pro-India politicians to shun electoral politics and join the ranks of freedom struggle.
