Follow the essence of the Pakistan resolution

By Sajjad Shaukat

The 23rd of March 1940 was a watershed in the history of the Sub Continent, when All India Muslim League passed the Resolution in Lahore for the creation of an independent state. Now, it is popularly called as Pakistan Resolution. Earlier, in his address to the Muslim League at Allahabad in 1930, the idea of a homeland for Muslims in their majority areas had been envisioned by the poet Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal, and had become the aspiration of Indian Muslims.

As a matter of fact, the British colonialists in connivance with majority Hindu population had manipulated and targeted Muslims through every possible way. In that background, Muslims started struggle for a separate state.

Prior to the Lahore session of Muslim League, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had specified to this historical congregation of the Muslims, the watch-words of Faith, Unity and Discipline which were not only necessary for waging the battle for an independent homeland, but also for present Pakistan. So, while struggling against the enemies, the essence of these watch-words, is unity which is the real spirit of the Pakistan Resolution. However, it was due to the strong unity among the Muslims under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam that Pakistan became a tangible reality. But that unity started declining after passing through various crises, and the result was separation of East Pakistan in 1971.

The 23rd March which is celebrating by every Pakistani as the Pakistan Day, has come at a time when Pakistan is facing multiple threats of grave nature, which are not only worrying all the citizens, but also putting the very integration of the state at stake.

Unfortunately, it is because of lack of solidarity among our politicians, leaders and media that foreign opportunists have been manipulating the chaotic situation of Pakistan in order to fulfill their secret agenda by destabilising the country. In the past few years, nefarious designs of secret agencies like American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad can be gauged from a number of anti-Pakistan developments such as their support to insurgency in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, separatism in Balochistan and targeted killings especially in Karachi coupled with subversive acts all over the country. In fact, the US-led India and Israel is creating unrest in Pakistan through their spy agencies which have deployed their collective networks throughout Pakistan. These elements are supporting violent acts in our country on daily basis. Notably, the US seems determined to shift Afghan war to Pakistan after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, as Obama administration has already started a covert war against Pakistan where these foreign secret agencies are also assisting their affiliated militants and agents with money and weapons.

Besides, American double game with Islamabad, pressuring the latter to do more against the militants by ignoring the internal backlash, drone strikes on FATA, threat of sanctions regarding inauguration of Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project, accusation of cross border terrorism, perennial propaganda about Talibanisation of the country, Pak Army, countrys intelligence agency, ISI including Indias distortion of Pakistans ideology, its history, violations across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir etc.clearly show future aims of the US, India and Israel which want to denuclearise Pakistan.

It looks that the ongoing deteriorated situation is not being grasped by the general masses and even the political leaders at large, who abruptly change their opinion without logic. Therefore, they become unintentional victimbenefiting the external plotters who seek to weaken Pakistan by creating a rift among the political groups, divided on ethnic and linguistic lines. These foreign enemies also seek to create a division between the political leaders on one side, while Pak Army and ISI on the other.

It is regrettable that on the one hand, countrys multiple crises indicate that Pakistan is rapidly advancing towards a failed state due to the sinister designs of the external forces, while on the other, our media, particularly most of the TV channels conduct controversial debate between politicians and commentators, contesting internal politics. Besides our media, so-called human rights groups and NGOs are also following the propaganda of the external elements. In this regard, sometimes, these entities manipulate memogate scandal, sometimes case of the missing persons and sometimes Mehrangate issue in maligning Pakistan Army and countrys superior agency. In this context, let us know the example of the missing personsa majority of these people include those people who were either kidnapped or killed by foreign-backed secret agents and their affiliated insurgent groups. Many of the disappeared persons also went to Afghanistan for Jehad purposes, while some of them joined the Jehadi groups inside Pakistan.

Nevertheless, like the anti-Pakistan enemies, our internal entities have ignored the sacrifices of these security agencies against terrorism. Now, they have started a new practice of taking some cases to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, without knowing the fact that it is likely to demoralise the armed forces and ISI which are essential for maintaining the integrity of the country.

It is our misfortune that at this critical hour, while situation demands selfless unity, both our media anchors and some politicians exploit every terror-incident or negative development against Pakistan. While, it was owing to the non-interference of army that the civil government completed its tenure, but these media commentators kept on targeting countrys key security institutions in one way or the other. As regards the forthcoming elections, on renowned TV channels, our politicians oppose their rivals for the sake of opposition. Accusation and counteraccusations have become their routine practice. In this respect, they opine as to what the people want, but conceal as to what people actually need? Especially, it seems that a majority of Pakistans media anchors and human rights organisations are on the payroll of external enemies.

While Pakistans economic crisis has accelerated, bringing about other-related problems like loadshedding of gas and electricity, unemployment and soaring prices of products.
Today Pakistan stands at the crossroads of its destiny, facing internal and external threats to the national security of the country. Besides, people of Pakistan, its security forces and intelligence agencies are coping with suicide attacks, bomb blasts, sectarian violence and target-killings including sporadic battles with the militants in the tribal areas.

At this critical moment, the 23rd March demands true national unity. We can also deduce it from the statement of Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani who, while taking note of the present critical situation, repeatedly stressed upon national unity. Kayani especially explained on June 9, 2011, Any effort to create divisions between important institutions of the country is not in national interestthe people of Pakistan whose support the army has always considered vital for its operations against terrorists. Recently, he has again emphasised upon unity.

This significant day demands that our political leaders must pledge that they will not manipulate their regional and provincial differences at the cost of the national interests so as to grab political power. In this context, a blind dedication to ones own race, tribe and creed should not be allowed to create hatred in one group against the other. They must avoid exploiting present thorny issues in order to increase their vote-bank at the cost of security agencies. If any controversy arises, it can better be settled in consonance with the constitution. For this aim, in order to castigate the conspiracy of the external enemies against the integrity of the country, our political leaders, media and human rights groups must also stop manipulating any crisis against Pak Army and ISI whose image are deliberately being tarnished by the external plotters.

True unity against the foreign enemies requires that our rulers and leaders of other political parties and must create national cohesion among various segments of society. Particularly, our electronic media should give a matching response to malicious propaganda of the US-led some western countries including India and Israel which are distorting the image of Pakistan, its army and ISI. Pakistans TV commentators must openly disclose the collective connivance of CIA, RAW and Mossad regarding their support to subversive acts inside our country and against Pak nukes.

No doubt, at this crucial time, Pakistans survival lies in selfless unity and strong cohesion as at present, even a layman can note that our country is in chaos and it seems as if there is a war of all against all in the sense of Hobbesian state of nature.

We must follow the essence of the Pakistan Resolution through real unity which is not possible unless the government, the opposition leaders, civil societies and media owners pledge to sign a charter of integration which is very necessary to pull the country out of the ongoing serious crises.

Islam Denounces Religious Intolerance

By Sajjad Shaukat

Although sectarian violence in Pakistan has gradually increased which took the lives of several persons, yet it has become fiercer. The religious minority sects and communities remain under constant threat of bloody attacks from the misguided Sunni extremists and the banned outfits.

Besides a perennial wave of sectarian attacks, on March 3, this year, the deadly twin blasts killed more than 50 people in the Shia-dominated Abbas Town of Karachi. On February 17, more than 100 Hazara Shias were killed on the Kirani Road in Quetta.

After the previous incident in Gojra, religious intolerance in the country took a dangerous turn when on March 9, in retaliation to blasphemy by a Christian, a frenzied mob torched over 100 houses and shops in Joseph Colony at Badami Bagh area of Lahore.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif including almost all the Sunni political and religious parties strongly condemned the assaults on Christian property. Shahbaz Sharif who ordered an immediate inquiry, declared the Badami Bagh incident as the worst example of barbarism. In this regard, police arrested more than 100 miscreants from different parts of the city. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has also taken suo motu notice of the Joseph Colony tragedy.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for Peoples Rights along with other civil society organisations held joint demonstrations, while the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan condemned the attack as another shameful act against Christians. On March 16, Yume-e-Rawadari (Day of Forbearance) was observed to show solidarity with the Christians in relation to the Joseph Colony tragedy, while on the instructions of the Punjab government the construction and repair work of burnt houses and Churches of the colony is continuing expeditiously.

Islamic scholars (Ulemas) of all schools of thought expressed deep sense of sorrow over the Badami Bagh incident. In a meeting, they unanimously remarked that this unholy act was an open challenge of anti-Islamic forces to two billion Muslims living in the world. While viewing the sad event as a sign of religious extremism, they vigorously denounced anti-Islamic and anti-Pakistan elements. The meeting recalled that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his sermon at Hajjatul Wida issued directions for protection of life, property and dignity of the whole mankind, and declared that the killing of any non-Muslim citizen living in an Islamic state is haraam (Forbidden).

However, all the measures and condemnation of the Badami Bagh episode clearly show that majority of Pakistanis are against assaults on Christian community. There are minority of religious fanatics who are instigating other people for such sorts of event. At this juncture, while some foreign powers have already launched propaganda against Islam and Pakistan in connection with religious intolerance, the burning of the houses of innocent Christians by the fundamentalist elements has further damaged the image of Pakistan abroad. In the recent past, Pakistans civil and military leadership including other parties had strongly condemned Taliban for the failed assault on Malala Yousufzai. But US-led some western countries, especially India manipulated the incident in relation to the Talibanisation of Pakistan to distort the countrys image.

In the past few years, terror attacks on the worship-places of Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Shias and Ahmadis including their peoples sporadic killing clearly signals foreign hands behind these incidents because they seek to show Pakistan as a Sunni conservative state.

The appropriate way is that if any individual commits blasphemy against the Holy Prophet (PBUH), strict punishment under the law should be ensured to that person, but whole the Christian community should not be targeted.

It is notable that unlike a theocratic state, in an Islamic country, rights, life, property and beliefs of all the religious communities and sects are fully protected by the government. In this context, while addressing the Constituent Assembly on August, 11 1947, Quaid-i-Azam said that he did not want Pakistan to be a theocratic state. He wanted Pakistan to be a liberal, secular and progressive state where the followers of every religion, faith, and sect were treated as citizens of equal status and they enjoyed equal rights. He explained, You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State.

In fact, there is no place for religious intolerance in Islam, but unfortunately it has pervaded the Pakistani society to such an extent that bigoted pseudo-religious leaders have tarnished the tenets of Islam, and are preaching violence against perceived offenders of Islam. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) was described as being a mercy due to the message he brought for humanity: We sent thee not, but as a mercy for all creatures, (Quàân 21:107). The tolerant spirit of Islam towards non-Muslims, whether they are those residing in their own countries or within the Muslim states, can be clearly seen through history. Before the coming of Islam, tolerance had never been preached as an essential part of religion.

Religious bigotry is found in every religion and fundamentalists avail every opportunity to persecute the people of other community. Modern era presents a number of such examples. In this regard, various forms of state terrorism have continued by the Israeli armed forces on the Palestinians. While with the backing of Burmese military regime and the covert assistance of Hindus, recent bloodshed of the minority Rohingya Muslim community at the hands of the Rakhine extremist Buddhists in Burma (present Myanmar) presents another such example. Similarly, during the Bosnian War (19921995), Serb forces slaughtered more than 10,000 Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and buried them in the unamed mass graves. The ethnic leansing campaign of the state terrorists continued by the Serb Army. That genocide was repeated in Kosovo where several Muslim men and women were murdered.
While tarnishing Pakistans image, US-led some western countries and their media have totally ignored Hindu terrorism which emanates from the ideology of Hindutva (Hindu nationalism). Hindu politics and culture, dominated by the fundamentalists parties such as BJP, RSS, VHP, Shiv Sena and other similar groups have been propagating Hindutva which is also being encouraged by the government officials. This Hindu ideology which resulted in sporadic attacks on the other ethnic and religious communities, especially Muslims and Christians has reflected the intentions of the BJB and the subsequent Congress rulers. While Indian constitution declares the country to be a secular state, but in practice ideology of Hindu nationalism has been implemented. In this context, destruction of Babri mosque in 1992, genocide of Muslims in Gujrat in 2002, discovery of more than 3000 unmarked graves who were killed by the Indian security forces in the fake encounters in the occupied Kashmir etc. might be cited as some instances.

Recently, Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde confessed the nexus between BJP and the RSS, disclosing that organised training camps run by these fundamentalist parties were promoting Hindu Terrorism. They also revealed that these parties were behind the Samjhauta Express, Meccca Masjid and Malegaon blasts including Gujarat and Babri masjid incidents.

Nevertheless, these Pakistani Taliban and their external-backed affiliated extremist groups are defaming Islam which is a religion of universal application, as it emphasises peace, democracy, moderation and human rights. Islam strongly denounces intolerance of other religious communities and sects. It is due to this fact that now, people from all segment of life and majority of politicians including general masses want that a handful of terrorist elements including religious fundamentalists must not be allowed to dictate their agenda and to impose their self-created ideology in Pakistan.

The right hour has come that Pakistans media, politicians and leaders of religious parties must show practical unity against zealots who seek to create chaotic disorder in the country to accomplish their self-motivated designs. And the real spirit of Islam needs to be understood clearly. For the purpose, particularly, Ulemas must continuously preach that Islam considers killing the innocent persons of other religious communities and sects equal to murdering the entire humanity, telling the people that the state and religion exist side by side without interfering in each others domain.

Propaganda against Pakistan’s Ideology

By Sajjad Shaukat:

Straightforwardly speaking, subversive activities arranged by the Indian secret agency, RAW in connivance with American CIA and Israeli Mossad inside Pakistan coincides with the propaganda launched by the US, some western countries and India. In this regard, high officials and media of these countries manipulate every terror attack to tarnish the image of Pakistan. For example, Pakistans civil and military leadership, all the political and religious parties had strongly condemned Taliban for the failed assault on Malala Yousufzai. But US-led these countries, especially India left no stone unturned in exploiting the incident in connection with Talibanisation of Pakistan.

Now, their media have also started distorting Pakistans history. In this respect, a book titled, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: The Unfinished Memoirs written by the Bengali leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as his autobiography has recently been released. While speaking in line of the book, senior media anchor of Geo News, Hamid Mir reproduced its contents in his article, Mujibs Memoirs, published in daily, The News on November 24, 2012. He writes, One-sided history books tell us that Mujib was a traitor who broke up Pakistanin fact, the political intrigues and blunders of military dictators broke up PakistanBengalis were massacred and their women were raped.

Notably, a renowned Bengali journalist Sarmila Bose authored a book, Dead Reckoning: Memories of the 1971 Bangladesh War. While countering exaggerations of the Indian and Bengali Journalists, Bose argues that the number of Bengalis killed in 1971 was not three million, but around 50,000 while Bengalis were equally involved in the bloodshed of non-Bengalis, and their women were raped.

In fact, before the 1971 war, Mujibur Rahman was in contacts with Indian rulers and training camps of Mukti Bahini, established by Indian army and RAW. Therefore, when East Pakistan was occupied by Indian Army, Majib stated with pleasure that his 24 years old dream of an independent Bangladesh had been fulfilled.

However, foreign entities have taken a new turn of propaganda, showing ill-conceived thoughts against the idealogy of Pakistan. In this context, under the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), Indian propagandists visited Pakistani educational institutions and criticised countrys curriculum labeling it hate-spreading contents against India. While favouring Indian point of view unilaterally, US-based magazine, The Christian Science Monitor published a story on February 28, 2013, titled Pakistan text books raise debate about curriculum of hate. It writes that in a suburban high school of Islamabad, ninth-graders are taught Pakistani history with an oblique angle vision.

As regards the migration of 1947, the magazine explained that students are taught: Caravans on the way to Pakistan were attacked by Hindus and Sikhs. Not a single Muslim was left alive in trains coming to Pakistan. While quoting Pakistani historian Mubarak Ali, it indicated that it was a one sided story and that actually it was an Indian reaction to Pakistani attacks on Hindu and Sikhs. The magazine also quoted, another historian, Abdul Hameed Nayyar, who targeted the Pakistan text books in similar tone saying, these try to create and define Pakistani nationalism in a very narrow sensein term of an Islamic identity.

But anti-Pakistan and self-created approach of The Christian Science Monitor was clearly exposed when it wrote, across Pakistan, government-sanctioned school text books contain blatantly anti-religious-minority and anti-Western materialmany people are worried that the curriculum is fueling intolerance, especially among youthsleading to violent behavior and even sympathy for the Taliban.

Nevertheless, we need to know the historical facts with reference to the above false propaganda, as its aim is to stimulate skepticism about the ideology of Pakistan.

During the British rule, Hindus which were in majority in India dominated Muslims in every field. The Hindus demanded that Urdu should be written in Hindi Script instead of Persian script. The Indian National Congress which claimed to represent all communities, oppressed all Muslim ideas and supported the Hindus. In 1905, the partition of Bengal ensured a number of political benefits for the Muslims but the Hindus launched an agitation against the partition which was annulled. Taking cognizance of Hindu injustices, in 1906, a Muslim deputation met Viceroy Lord Minto and demanded the right of separate electorate for Muslims. Afterwards, in various political reforms, the separate electorate was maintained for Muslims, which endorsed the two nation theory.

The two nation theory means the cultural, religious, economic and social dissimilarities between Hindus and Muslims. These differences of outlook, in fact, were greatly instrumental in giving rise to two distinct political ideologies. Despite living together for centuries, Muslims maintained their individual culture and civilization.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan who was pioneer of the two nation theory advised the Muslims not to join Congress. Allama Iqbal said in 1930, India is a continent of human beings belonging to different languages and professing different religionsI, therefore, demand the formation of consolidated Muslim state in the best interests of the Muslims of India and Islam.

It was due to the obstinacy of Congress which rejected the genuine demands of the Indian Muslims that Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was compelled to leave Congress. He advocated the two nation theory by declaring that Muslims needed a separate state to protect their rights. Jinnah came to believe that Muslims and Hindus were distinct nations with unbridgeable differences. In All India Muslim Leagues annual session at Lahore in 1940, the Pakistan Resolution was adopted as the main goal of the party.

Indian Congress had refused to recognise an independent Pakistan. Therefore, during partition, thousands of armless Muslims, migrating to Pakistan were massacred by the brutal attacks conducted by Indian armed gangs. They were tortured to death; their women were raped, caravans were looted and several Muslims disappeared.

No doubt, Pakistan became a reality on the basis of ideology which is Islam. In this respect, while addressing the Constituent Assembly on August, 11 1947, Quaid-i-Azam elaborated that he did not want Pakistan to be a theocratic state. He wanted Pakistan to be a liberal, secular and progressive state where the followers of every religion, faith, and sect were treated as citizens of equal status and they enjoyed equal rights.

Islam which does not permit suicide attacks considers killing one innocent person equal to murdering the entire humanity, while jihad is a sacred obligation, but its real spirit needs to be understood clearly. In this connection, 50 Islamic scholars and muftis of the Sunni Ittehad Council have issued a joint fatwa (edict) on February 7, 2013, and declared, Killing of innocent people, target killings and suicide bombingsin Karachi and Balochistan including sectarianism as against the spirit of Islam.

Now, people from all segment of life and majority of politicians including general masses want that a handful of terrorist elements must not be allowed to dictate their agenda and to impose their self-created ideology in the country.

On the other side, US-led some western countries and their media have totally ignored Hindu terrorism which emanates from the ideology of Hindutva (Hindu nationalism). Hindu politics and culture, dominated by the fundamentalists parties such as BJP, RSS, VHP, Shiv Sena and other similar groups have been propagating ideology of Hindutva which is also being encouraged by the government officials. Although, sporadic attacks on the other ethnic and religious communities, entailing Indian lower castes, and especially Muslims and Christians have continued, yet appointment of extremist Hindus in top positions in various institutes, and alteration of academic courses in accordance with the Hindu ideology have reflected the intentions of the BJB and the subsequent Congress rulers. Indian text books misinterpret historical facts regarding Sub-continent and Pakistan. While Indian constitution declares the country to be a secular state, but in practice ideology of Hindu nationalism has been implemented.

Nonetheless, displaying unilateral move by neglecting Hindu terrorism and Indian text books, the US-led some western countries, their media like The Christian Science Monitor, and some Pakistani internal elements have been misinterpreting the history of Pakistan, its ideology and Islam by equating the latter with Talibanisation. They are defaming Islam which is the religion of peace, democracy, moderation and human rights.

Afzal Guru’s Execution to Invigorate Struggle for Liberation of Kashmir

By Usman Khalid

India is the last surviving imperial power which is unique as its desire for regional hegemony is underpinned by internal hegemony by high castes.

Not many people know that Hindus are a minority in India. The number of those within the fold of chaturvarna i.e. four castes (Brahmin, Kashatri, Vesh and Shudara) are no more than 15% of the population of India the same as the Muslims. The original inhabitants of India are treated as untouchables like the shudras but their number is 65% of the population. They are outside the caste system and were considered outcastes until the British included them in the caste hierarchy. The indigenous outcastes, under the influence of Aryan settlers in the sub-continent, developed a caste system of their own but they did not practise Untouchability. The indigenous outcastes are really the only real nation in India. However, the British, who had defeated the Muslim rulers to conquer the sub-continent, decided to unify the four castes with outcastes into one people. They classified the native people into three groups Scheduled Castes (SC) 20%, Scheduled Tribes (ST) 10%, and Other Backward Castes (OBCs) 35%. Those who converted to Islam, Christianity, and the Sikh faith were called religious minorities under British rule. Over time, however, the converts also embraced a caste system of sorts. The Sikhs and Christians have separate gurudwaras and churches for lower castes. It is only the Muslims who have spurned the practice of Untouchability and the caste hierarchy.

The foreign policy of a country is the projection of its internal policy. Since the partition in 1947, the Muslims in India, who were more prosperous and socially advanced than Hindus, have fallen even below the Scheduled Castes. That is no accident; it is the result of the Muslims being treated as Untouchables and excluded from all spheres of life except the lowest. The resentment against the high caste Hindu rulers exists not only among the Muslims but among ALL Untouchables. That would have been a potent force if sovereign Muslim states and erstwhile rulers of the sub-continent united against Hindu repression. To repress Muslims with impunity and to demonise Pakistan is the main plank of Indias policy. On occasions, in consequence of sustained subversion, collaborators of Hindus have been installed in power in every neighboring country. When such rulers submit to the fiat of India, repression inside India becomes more severe; when they do not, India begins to talk up military threats. Over the last five years India had its collaborators ruling in Pakistan as well as Bangladesh. Bangladesh succumbed to Indian pressure and committed three grave crimes: 1) execution of officers who carried out a coup détat on 15 August 1975 to save Bangladesh from being absorbed into India; 2) stalling on proper inquiry into Peelkhana massacre of February 2009 in which 53 senior officers of BDR were killed in a RAW sponsored clandestine operation, 3) to cover its being complicit in the massacre Hasina Administration started trial of Jamaat i Islami leaders who assisted the Pakistan Army in fighting Indian invasion in 1971.

Pakistan led by Asif Zardari kept quiet and acquiesced. The four party ruling coalition of Zardari League, MQM, ANP and JUI have interfaces for guidance and support in India. A propaganda offensive under the title of aman ki aasha has been going on to delegitimize the Kashmiri struggle for freedom as terrorism. Zardari Administration has signed agreements to give India access to Afghanistan and Central Asia over its land compromising long held declared policy of not giving India MFN status or access to its roads until the people of J&K got their right of self determination. But when it came to protecting Pakistans interests in Afghanistan, the military was in the driving seat and it did not allow Indian stratagem to succeed. Indian forces crossed the LoC in Kashmir to express its anger. The propaganda in the media was so shrill that another Indo-Pakistan War appeared imminent. But the nuclear deterrent of Pakistan is credible. Getting no encouragement from the USA, India backed off. But then it hanged Afzal Guru on February 9, 2013. His is a case of diabolical injustice.

The background of the case of Afzal Guru is very interesting. It was soon after 9/11 when Pakistan had a military ruler General Musharraf that India worked itself into frenzy with twin motives liberating Pakistan from military rule and teaching the Pakistan Army a lesson. It needed evidence of affront to work up a public frenzy. It decided that an attack on the Indian parliament would be adequate affront. Several Pakistani prisoners which are plentiful in Indian jails were dressed in police uniform, driven to the lawns of the parliament building where they started shooting. Within five minutes the drama came to an end; all five raiders were shot dead making oral evidence impossible. On the pretext of this false flag operation, India moved the bulk of its armed forces to the border with Pakistan. The deployment lasted nearly a year but then senior generals of the Indian Army advised the Vajpayee Administration that no decisive or quick victory was possible.

After having blamed Pakistan for the raid on the parliament, it was necessary to coin a new story in which Kashmiri freedom fighters were blamed. Afzal Guru, a former militant who had surrendered and was being rehabilitated was indicted for being the master mind of the attack on the parliament. The charge was absurd because he was overtly under watch. He was in Srinagar at the time and he named the police officer who took him from Srinagar to Delhi. That officer was never questioned by the investigators or the courts. This would have been a perfect alibi in any other country but it was never even considered. The conviction of Afzal Guru was the subject of an appeal in the high court and the Supreme Court of India. At no stage, the cast iron defence of Afzal Guru was given proper hearing. He made mercy appeals to two Presidents one Muslim, one Hindu but his appeal was rejected. He remained on death row for eight years after his last appeal ton the Supreme Court was rejected in 2005. But his execution was delayed because it was thought that death sentence after so obviously a flawed trial would draw serious reaction in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Clearly, India has chosen to hang Afzal Guru because its intent has changed. India no longer relies on collaborators to achieve its objectives; it seeks to use pressure and blackmail in order to teach every one a lesson.

India is back on course of using internal repression as a tool of regional hegemony. India is one country in the world which does not seek friendly relations with its neighbours but seeks to use the abject poverty of Kashmiris, Muslims and its outcastes with kins in neighboring countries to establish and maintain its regional hegemony. Its foreign policy is the extension of the internal hegemony on which the Hindu caste system is based. New Delhi is afraid that friendly neighbours and foreign policy based on sovereign equality of nations would exert such powerful influence within India that equality between members of different faiths and castes would inevitably prevail. That is why arbitrary exercise of power social as well as state power and continuous repression, are the hallmark of the Indian society. The Hindu high castes condition the lower castes to habitual acceptance of abuse, cruelty and excess. When there is protest or resistance, the Hindu elite resorts to what they call teaching them a lesson. This is reflected in the language of political discourse in the press, on TV screens, in parliamentary debate, and generally in all employer-employee relations. The over-dog is forever engaged in teaching the underdog a lesson.

Since teaching a lesson requires evidence of affront, its absence calls for Channakian techniques of distortion, outright lies and vicious propaganda. All organs of the state including the police and the judiciary see it their duty to create evidence of affront. The heavy losses in 1965 War so soon after the defeat at the hands of China in 1962, was affront enough for 1971 invasion of East Pakistan and 1973 explosion of nuclear devices. Pakistan has responded well on the battlefield but has been no match for India in the use of soft power for propaganda and subversion. The raids across the LoC by Indian forces, the execution of Afzal Guru, mal-treatment Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails, the systematic impoverishment of Muslims in India, and the colonisation of Bangladesh continue without any serious challenge from Pakistan. India sees the military of Pakistan as the power centre that stands in the way of Bangladeshization of Pakistan. That is also the line of the PPP as well as PML(N) but they call it resentment and resistance of civil control. The people of Pakistan know the truth and repeatedly express their loyalty and love for the armed forces that have stood up to India when even their own leaders were ready to compromise and acquiesce.

India miscalculated in 1971 when it pronounced that the Two Nation Theory has been sunk in the Bay of Bengal. It miscalculated in 1973 when it thought that its nuclear bomb would give it regional hegemony in perpetuity. It tried to take advantage of outright western support over Kargil War and was overjoyed when the USA invaded Afghanistan in the wake of 9/11. After the installation of collaborators in power in Bangladesh and Pakistan, India thought that its domination over the sub-continent would be unchallenged. But it got challenged well before it was established. India would continue to draw comfort from its collaborators in politics and the media. But it should learn a lesson from its campaign aman ki aasha which unexpectedly created an environment of trust between the Untouchable majority and the Muslims. India appears to have decided to opt for the stick instead of the carrot. The execution of Afzal Guru is yet another miscalculation. It is not going to suppress the Kashmiri struggle for freedom; it marks the beginning of another very different phase in Kashmiri fight for freedom. Henceforth, it would resemble the struggle of Afghans first against Soviet occupation and then against American occupation. No one has said it wants to teach India a lesson. But if India is to avoid a prolonged war of liberation in J&K it would follow the example of Great Britain, France and more recently of the Soviet Union and pack its bags in Kashmir before the cost of occupation became too high.

Indian dubious approach

By Sajjad Shaukat

On the one hand, India has been emphasising to strengthen the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) with Pakistan to normalise relations between both the countries, but on the other, it has continuously been giving a greater setback to the CBMs in one or the other way, which shows Indian dubious approach.

In this regard, Indian soldiers crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on January 6, this year and attacked a Pakistani check post in Haji Pir sector, killing one Pakistani soldier and injuring many troops. Besides, Indian troops shot dead two Pakistani soldiers at Hotspring on the LoC on January 10 and 15.

In this respect, the Pakistani Foreign Office summoned the Indian High Commissioner and lodged a strong protest on the repeated and unprovoked attacks on Pakistani soldiers. The Pakistani foreign secretary also asked India to thoroughly investigate the repeated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian troops, reiterating the offer to hold an independent inquiry through the United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), which India flatly refused.

There have been three blatant violations by Indian troops in five days, which have given a blow to the ceasefire of 2003 along the LoC.

While in order to justify its open aggression, India concocted a fabricated story of accusing Pakistan of killing and beheading its two soldiers in the same area of the LoC. Despite the fact that Pakistans civil and army spokesmen have denied Indian baseless allegations of beheading its two soldiers, Indian top officials, the opposition party and media have perennially been launching a blame game to distort the image of Pak Army and Pakistan.

In this context, Indian Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne stated on January 12 in threatening tone that India will be forced to consider other options, if ceasefire violations continue from the Pakistan side across the Line of Control. On the same day, senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh asked the Manmohan Singh-led government to stop all dialogue and confidence-building measures with Pakistan due to the alleged brutal beheadings of Indian soldiers and recall its High Commissioner to Islamabad over the alleged ceasefire violations.

On January 14, Indian Army Chief General Bikram Singh also threatened to retaliate against Pakistan for the alleged killing of two soldiers in fighting near the disputed border of Kashmir, saying, he had asked his commanders there to be aggressive in the face of provocation. Earlier, Indias external affairs ministry had summoned Pakistan high commissioner Salman Bashir to protest the killing of the two Indian soldiers.

Even Indian Prime Minister Singh allegedly said on January 15 that there could be no business as usual with Pakistan after a clash along the LoC in Kashmir in which two Indian soldiers were killed and their bodies mutilated.

However, ISPR spokesman stated that Pakistan has lodged a strong protest during a flag meeting between Pakistani and Indian military officials on continuous ceasefire violations including attempted raid by Indian troops on the LoC in which two Pakistani soldiers were martyred.

Meanwhile, while referring to the recent breakthrough in bilateral ties Pakistans Foreign Affairs Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has pointed out in wake of Indian propaganda that she did not see the recent violations of the LoC ceasefire derailing or setting back the peace process with India, explaining that the government and people of Pakistan were committed to normalising relations with India.

Notably, Indian conflicting reports of Indian media and rulers have exposed New Delhis self-created story. In this context, some say that one Indian soldier was decapitated, while some reveal the beheading of two soldiers.

India is making noise with the assistance of its media to accelerate its venomous propaganda so as to show to the world that Pak Army is involved in violations along the disputed border of Kashmir, and Pakistan intends to derail the CMBs.

Regrettably, our media is so engaged in manipulating internal controversial issues that the incident of indiscriminate firing on Pakistani soldiers at LoC could hardly get any coverage. Countrys media commentators have totally failed in countering Indian propaganda campaign in this respect.

In fact, India is emphasising more on CBMs than to pay attention for the settlement of real issues. Notably, regarding the visit of Indias External Affairs Minister S M Krishna to Pakistan on September 9, 2012, Pakistans Foreign Minister Khar stated that with her counterpart Krishna, she discussed all the outstanding issues such as terrorism, Siachen, Sir Creek, Wullar Barrage, water and especially main dispute of Kashmir. Both the countries also signed agreements of liberalised visa regime and a memorandum of understanding on cultural exchanges in addition to agreeing on new cross-Line of Control (LoC) Confidence Building Measures related to trade and travel. Nevertheless, implementation of these agreements has started. In this context, Islamabad also signed a number of trade agreemens with New Delhi, which allowed India exports of mutltiple items across the Wagah border. It is also likely to grant India Most Favoured Nation status, which permits trade in almost everything. But like Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during his trip, S M Krishna had warned that in case of Mumbai-like incident; relations between the two countries could lapse.

As part of the CBMs, under the Aman Ki Asha initiative, recently renowned Pakistani and Indian media anchors, retired high civil and military officials including film stars have participated in various seminars and gatherings in both the countries to create favourable atmosphere to intensify the peace process, and to discuss practical solutions to the bilateral issues.

By setting aside the CBMs, recently, India decided to erect a floating fence, anchored by submerged metallic meshes, along the disputed Sir Creek border area with Pakistan. Sir Creek which sits in the Rann of Kutch marshlands is the 96 km narrow piece of water between Indias Gujarat state and Pakistans Sindh province is sovereign part of Pakistans territory.

It is due to New Delhis duplicity with Islamabad that Indian rulers availed various crises to suspend the process of Pak-India talks. For example, in 2002, under the pretension of terrorist attack on the Indian parliament, New Delhi postponed the process of dialogue. Again, in 2008, India suspended the composite dialogue under the pretext of Mumbai terror attacks which were in fact, arranged by its secret agency RAW in connivance with Indian home-grown terrorists.

India and Pakistan had resumed the new phase of talks in March, 2009 which were the first structured bilateral talks. But every time, prime ministers and foreign ministers of the two countries ended their meetings with issuance of positive notes, and vowed that their parleys would pave the way for the settlement of real issues, particularly the core dispute of Kashmir, but the same failed without producing tangible results due to Indian double game.

It is mentionable that Indian adamant stand regarding Pak-India parleys are not without some sinister designs. In this regard, India is determined to keep its hold on Kashmir which is considered by it as integrated part of the Indian union. It also wants to blackmail Pakistan by stopping the flow of rivers water towards Pakistan as major rivers of our country take origin from the occupied Kashmir. India is only fulfilling the formality through the new phase of talks as Indian rulers also want to show to the US-led western countries that they are willing to settle all the outstanding disputes with Pakistan including Kashmir. And New Delhi wants to continue state terrorism on the innocent Kashmiris who are waging a war of liberation for their legitimate rights as recognised by the UNO.

In these terms, recent violations at the LoC and blatant aggression by killing two Pakistani soldiers in wake of insisting upon CMBs clearly indicate Indian dubious approach.

Indian tactics entrap Bangladesh

By Sajjad Shaukat

Since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid came into power, India has been employing various tactics to entrap Bangladesh by manipulating her pro-Indian tilt to fulfill its strategic interests.

In this regard, Indian daily, The Hindu, pointed out that government of Bangladesh seeks to arrange the 4th phase of ceremony on 15 December 2012 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre to award foreign friends who supported the 1971 war of independence. Earlier, in the first phase, the Bangladesh Freedom Honour was given to ex-Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 25 July 2011. While in the second ceremony, 83 external supporters and organisations were awarded on 27 March 2012. Similarly, 61 foreign entities were honoured in the third ceremony on 20 October 2012.

Now, on the secret insistence of India, Bangladesh which will especially celebrate 1971 liberation war is inviting 150 foreign friends who include various institutions, media anchors and Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

The names of 15 Pakistani intellectuals and media persons who favoured the so-called Bangladeshs liberation war against their own country have also been invited. Some of them are also expected to receive the rewards. Notably, US, India and some western elements have launched a deliberate propaganda and blame game against Pakistan, its army and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Their aim is to denuclearise or dismember Pakistan as CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad have regularly been conducting subversisve acts in our country through their affilitated militants. Some Pakistans media commentators including so-called human rights groups are speaking in the tone of these foreign enemies in distorting the image of Pakistan and its security agencies. Thus, they misguide the general masses by benefitting the external elements.

However, Hasina Wajid refused to participate in the recently-held D-8 conference in Islamabad unless the latter tendered apology for the genocide of Bengalis in 1971.

Here, question arises that after 40 years of its independence, as to why special ceremony will be held in Bangladesh with full jubilation. In fact, India is employing overt and covert tactics to malign Pak Army by making Bangladeshi prime minister as a tool.

In this respect, recently a book titled, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman: The Unfinished Memoirs written by the Bengali leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as his autobiography has been simultaneously released in Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. The book left no stone unturned in distorting Pakistans history.

The publication described, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a villain for many Pakistanis. One-sided history books tell us that Mujib was a traitor who broke up Pakistan with the help of India. While indicating that Mujibur Rehaman was not opposing Pakistan, the autobiography reveals, Mujib who joined the Muslim League, was actually an active worker of the Pakistan movementhe wrote the truth about himself in his memoirs.

Without grasping reality, The Unfinished Memoirs, explained that it was not Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bengalis who wanted to break up Pakistan, but actually created Pakistan. In fact, the political intrigues and blunders of military dictators broke up PakistanMajib was arrested and a military operation started in East Pakistan. Bengalis were massacred and their women were raped.

While speaking in line of the book, and concealing the real facts, senior media anchor of Geo News, Hamid Mir who reproduced its contents in his article, Mujibs Memoirs, published in daily, The News on November 24 praised Mujibur Ranman and implicated Pak Army. He wrote, Its time now to apologise officially to the people of Bangladesh.

Notably, a renowned Bengali journalist Sarmila Bose authored a book, Dead Reckoning: Memories of the 1971 Bangladesh War after thorough investigation. Her book was published in 2011. While countering exaggerations of the Indian and Bengali Journalists, Bose argues that the number of Bengalis killed in 1971 was not three million, but around 50,000 while Bengalis were equally involved in the bloodshed of non-Bengalis.

In fact, before the 1971 war, Mujibur Rahman had announced a separate national flag for East Pakistan. His six points created prejudice among Bengali people especially against West Pakistan. The famous slogan, during his addresses and rallies was, Punjabi dogs go back. It was due to Mujibs instigation that besides Punjabis, Bengalis had also tortured and killed Biharis, Pashtoons and Balochis, while their women were raped.

Majib was already in connivance with India for separation of East Pakistan. Therefore, when East Pakistan was occupied by Indian Army in 1971, he stated with pleasure that his 24 years old dream of an independent Bangladesh had been fulfilled. He had earlier developed his contacts with Indian rulers and training camps of Mukti Bahini, established by Indian army and RAW which also funded Mujibur Rehmans general elections in 1970. Meanwhile, India welcomed the refugees from East Pakistan, and provoked them against West Pakistan.

Just like Sheikh Majibur Rahman, New Delhi has been playing a double game with Bangladesh. In this regard, on June 29, 2011, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stated, with Bangladesh, our relations are quite good. But we must reckon that 25 percent of Bangladeshs population swears by the Jamiat-e-Islami is very anti-Indianas to why these terrorist elements have a hold on Bangladesh.

During her visit to Bangladesh, last year, Prime Minister Hasina assured Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari that she would not allow Bangladeshi territory to be used for terrorist activities against India.

On the other side, Indian cross-border terrorism in Bangladesh has continued unabated. In this context, Brad Adams wrote in the Guardian, Over the past 10 years, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has killed almost 1,000 people in the border area between India and Bangladesh, turning it into south Asian killing fieldsso far, no one has been prosecuted for any of these killings, in spite of evidence in many cases.

Despite the fact, New Delhi built a 2,000 km fence along the border of Bangladesh, but BSF has continued a shoot-to-kill policy, even against unarmed local villagers.

It is mentionable that India constructed the Farakka dam on its side of the Ganges River to stop flow of water to Bangladesh. In that respect, Indo-Bangladesh Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) met many a time to settle the dispute, but could not produce any results as India has deliberately been stopping water flow to Bangladesh. Now, New Delhis plan for the construction of Tipaimukh Dam on the river Barak will further harm Bangladeshs genuine interests.

Reliable sources indicate that Ms. Hasina has directed her staff to close the chapter of water and border conflicts with India. Besides, the Awami League has given transit trade facilities to Bharata move which has been resisted by the Bangladeshi patriots for the past several decades. In this context, a writer has rightly said, Hasina Wajid again started Honey Moon Period of relationship with India.

By setting aside public protests and strikes by students and Islamic parties, while establishing close ties with New Delhi, P.M. Hasina Wajid is again giving secular orientation to the country by purging the society from religious touch. She has issued instructions for the removal of some Islamic books from academic courses.

In this connection, a survey conducted by a local agency pointed out that 98% Bangladeshis are not ready to leave Islamic culture. They also hate undue interference of India in Bangladeshs affairs. They are quite aware that, New Delhi wants to make Bangladesh its colony. In the recent past, RAW conducted a number of subversive activities in Bangladesh like bomb blasts.

Especially, RAW assisted Ms. Hasina Wajid in coming to power. It engineered a judicial coup which allowed the Awami League to win 14 million voters of the opponent parities which were disenfranchised. Then the Jamaat-e-Islami was banned by Hasina Wajid.

Nevertheless, there are concerns amongst the patriotic people and the opposition parties of the country that the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has a strong tilt towards India which has been using various tactics to entrap Bangladesh to obtain its anti-Pakistan designs including those of the US-led some western countries.

‘Collusion’ against Pakistan Iran relations

By Sajjad Shaukat:

Pak-Iranian relations are rapidly strengthening day by day. During the visit of Irans Vice President for International Affairs Ali Seedlou, both the countries signed three agreements on November 13, this year as part of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) to promote economic cooperation, timely completion of Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project and electricity import from Iran. Both the sides agreed to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion mark.

Iran which already completed its portion of gas pipeline has decided to invest $500 million assistance in building Pakistani part of the project. In this respect, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also visit Pakistan.

In the third trilateral summit at Islamabad, on February 17, 2012, Pakistans President Asif Ali Zardari, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai put their heads together to forge regional cooperation in multifaceted areas. They pledged to eradicate terrorism and militancy from the region.

In response to Karzais blame game regarding cross-border terrorism, Zardari had clarified, I deny this notion that any of our armed forces are directly or indirectly involved. He stated, without naming America, Who was the owner and financer of former chief of Tehreek-e-Talban Pakistan Baitulllah Mahsood.

Zardari vowed to fight US pressure on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, saying that the external forces can not undermine bilateral relations. Notably, Pakistan also assured to support Tehran, if the US or Israel launches a military attack on Iran. While hinting towards the US, the Iranian president revealed that the problem in the region had no local roots, but it was imposed from external fronts.

In fact, Pakistan and Iran are quite sincere about regional cooperation among the three countries including stability in Afghanistan, but Hamid Karzai has been implementing American secret diplomacy in the region.

However, Pak-Iranian relationship cannot be seen in isolation as it relates to major powers. In this regard, after the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan in 2014, US which signed an agreement of strategic cooperation with Kabul has decided to establish six military bases in Afghanistan, having eyes on the energy resources of Central Asia, with multiple strategic designs against Pakistan, Iran, China, and Russia. In this context, on January 5, 2012, US President Obama unveiled a new defence strategy which calls for greater US military presence in Asia.

Besides China, Pakistan has also cultivated its relationship with the Russian Federation. In this respect, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Islamabad on October 3 and on the same day, Pakistans Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani left for Moscow. The main aim of these visits was the reorientation of Pak-Russian Relationship by concluding strategic partnership in the long run.

In 2010, President Putin publicly endorsed Pakistan bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) which includes Russia, China, four Central Asian Republics as permenent members, and Pakistan and Iran as observers. Pakistans President Zardari participated in the summit of the SCO held in Beijing, this year. In their speeches, hinting towards US secret designs, Chinese president Hu Jintao and President Putin stated, Only when SCO member states remain united can they effectively cope with emerging challenges-enhancing security cooperation.

In various summits, the SCO leaders displayed strength against the US rising dominance in the region and military presence in Afghanistan, near Central Asia.

Nevertheless, US new defence strategy is part of Indo-US hidden agenda in Afghanistan. First of all US seeks to protect the puppet regime of Karzai and Indian influence in Afghanistan under the umbrella of its military presence because it knows that otherwise, Taliban militants will topple the Karzai regime, also forcing India to withdraw its network from Afghanistan. India which has already invested billion of dollars in Afghanistan, signed a strategic partnership agreement with that country on on october 5, 2011, wants to further fortify its grip there to get strategic depth against Islamabad.

US bases in Afghanistan and the Gulf will also enhance its ability to gather intelligence on Iran. In December, 2011, Iranian authorities recovered a CIA surveillance drone which had been launched from Afghanistan. Although US President Barrack Obama has asked Israel to postpone invasion of Tehran, yet a war-like situation exists between Iran and America over the nuclear programme of Tehran, which is for energy-purposes. In the recent past, Russia and China rejected US-led western sanctions against Iran and asked America to resolve the question of Irans nuclear programme peacefully.

It is notable that US which signed a nuclear deal with India in 2008, intends to make India a super power of Asia to contain China and destablise Pakistan as well as Iran. Balochistan where China has invested billion of dollars to develop Gwadar seaport is considered a greater threat by these hostile powers.

Meanwhile, during the visit of Pakistans Chief of Army Staff Gen. Kayani to Kabul, Pakistan, ISAF and Afghanistan on November 20, this year signed an agreement of the Tripartite Border Coordination Mechanism in the wake of cross-border firing and militant infiltration from the Afghan side. But US is playing double game with Islamabad. Sometimes, it praises Pak sacrifices regarding war on terror, sometimes, admits that stability cannot be achieved in Afghanistan without the help of Pakistan after the withdrawal of foreign troops, sometimes, realises that US wants to work to put its relationship with Pakistan on a stronger footing, also requesting the latter to play key role for Afghan peace deal with the Taliban, but at the same time, it blames Islamabad for safe-havens of militants and cross-border attacks in Afghanistan.
Especially, US has been supporting cross-border infiltration in Pakistan with the assistance of American CIA, Indian intelligence agency, RAW and Israeli secret agency, Mossad which have well-established their network in Afghanistan to denuclearise Pakistan. For this purpose highly trained militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons are being sent to Pakistan, who are regularly conducting subversive acts and sectarian violence in various regions of the country.

Besides, reality behind the deteriorating situation and the missing persons of Balochistan is that CIA, RAW and Mossad have perennial been backing bomb blasts, suicide attacks, abductions, target killings, ethnic and sectarian violence in Balochistan through their affiliated militant groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Jundollah (Gods soldiers), and Baloch feudal lords (Sardars) in order to fulfill their secret strategic designs so as to dismember Pakistan and Iran.

Pakistans Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik disclosed in his recent statements that he showed proof about training camps being run in Afghanistan, and supply of arms and ammunition by the Afghan government to Baloch separatists inside Balochistan.

However, BLA and Jundollah are also working against the cordial relationship of Pakistan with Iran and China. In the past few years, their militants kidnapped and killed many Iranian and Chinese nationals in Pakistan. Notably, Jundullah conducted several subversive acts in the Iranian Sistan-Baluchistan. Particularly, Tehran has repeatedly pointed out US and CIA for patronage and funding of those terrorist attacks.

In this context, the former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi had stated, It is obvious that the same forces which are working in Pakistani Balochistan are also working in Iranian Sistan. While, Irans Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had indicated, The bloody actions being committed in Iraq, Pakistan and Iran are aimed at creating a division between the Shias and Sunnisthose who carry out these terrorist actions are directly or indirectly foreign agents.

It is mentionable that on February 8, 2012, the hearing of the US Congress Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Dana Rohrabacher favoured an independent Balochistan. And military scholar Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, while writing in the June 2006 issue of The Armed Forces Journal of the US had suggested Washington about the creation of a Greater Balochistan which would integrate the Baloch areas of Pakistan with those of Iranand the Frontier Province should be incorporated into Afghanistan.

Nonetheless, although Pakistan and Iran seek to further strengthen their cooperation, yet US, India and Israel intend to weaken their relations as part of the collusion.

New Fitna being Exported to Pakistan

By Brig. (Retd) Uman Khalid:

We all know about Hizb ul Tahrir (HuT). When its leader in the UK, Omar Bakri, became a destabilising nuisance, he was advised to disassociate himself with HuT and he set up another organisation under the title of Al-Muhjiroon. This was a successor of Al Takfir val Hijra commonly known as the Takfiri cult.

This cult styles itself on the most glorious chapter of Muslim History, the Hijra from Makkah to Medina which marks the beginning of the Muslim Calendar. Omar Bakri became very controversial among UK Muslims and was deported to his country Lebanon.

His place in the UK was taken by a Pakistani lawyer, Anjum Chuadhry. The high priest of the Takfiri cult is Aiman al Zawahiri (AAZ). All the trade names under which its affiliates Al-Qaeda, HuT, Muhajiroon, and Tehrik I Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operate bear allegiance to AAZ and propagate his views. All these cults have been banned in every Muslim country but they are flourishing in the UK. Why?

The main objectives and chief slogans of all these cults are Khilafa and Sharia Both are deeply embedded in the belief structure of all Muslims and no one can disagree with or disapprove of either. That came to the notice of anti-islam subversion factory in the West.

They put a new interpretation of both to demonise Islam. Their concept of Khalifa is modelled on the institution of the Pope in the Catholic Church with the difference that the Pope confines his edicts to ecumenical matters but the Muslim Khalifa Aiman al Zawahiri is held to be above the state whose edicts take precedence over the orders of the state.

This means ALL states whether the state is darus Salaam (where Muslim enjoy political as well as cultural sovereignty), or is Darul Aman (where Muslims do not enjoy political sovereignty but are unfettered in the practise of their faith), or is darul harb (where Muslims enjoy neither political sovereignty nor freedom to practise their faith).

The effect of AAZ edicts subscribed to by HT, al- Muhijroon or TTP etc- , is that ALL Muslims become outlaws in ALL states. Their interpretation of sharia is similarly designed to make every Muslim unemployable and criminal by necessity.

HuT, for example, preaches that the Muslim should not vote in elections and opt out of Secular- Western education. TTP version of sharia enjoins bombin schools (particularly girls schools) and blowing up TV/video and barber shops and killing infidels particularly the soldiers and police of Pakistan and employess of state institutions.

Now HuT. Muhajiroon and TTP are being re-launched in Pakistan under the title Sharia4Pakistan with actors trained in the UK.

Please see their conference flyer above and bring it to the notice of those responsible for counter-intelligence in your country.

Taliban & North Waziristan Operation

Written by Sajjad Shaukat: Since October 9, when a teenager Malala Yousafzai, children rights activist, a child educator and National Peace Award winner has been critically injured by the Talibans dreadful attack in Swat, Pakistan witnessed unimaginable reaction by all the political, religious parties and civil societies in wake of protest rallies across the country. In this regard, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for this brutal act.

On October 11, President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a meeting with Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani who had already condemned attack on Malala, agreed to formulate a new strategy to prevent such incidents. Gen. Kayani informed the meeting of actions being taken against terrorists and preparedness of the Army for further action. Afterwards, rumours started that they have decided action against the Taliban and military operation in North Waziristan.

Although all the leaders of political and religious parties strongly condemned this cowardly assault on Malala, yet polarisation exists among them in relation to strict action against the Taliban and military operation in North Waziristan. In this context, the PPP targeted Imran Khan of PTI, who supports Taliban, and suggest the rulers to engage in talks with TTP.

PML-N’s spokesman Senator Mushahidullah Khan stated that Malala incident should not be linked with any proposed offensive in North Waziristan.

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan and chief of JJUI-F Fazlur Rehman remarked that the attack on Malala Yosafzai has no connection with TTP but it was conducted to create justification for military operation in Waziristan, while many innocent girls and children are being killed in US drone attacks.

It is interesting to note that division exists even among those politicians who favour Taliban, and also oppose military action in North Waziristan. In this context, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, while strongly criticising Imran Khan said on October 14 that during his march to South Waziristan, he did not say a word against America.

However, these leaders also pointed out that the government seeks to launch operation in North Waziristan to fulfill a long standing US demand.

Notably, in his telephonic address, MQM chief Altaf Hussain stated that the citizens should decide whether they supported the Taliban or wanted to see Pakistan as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam. He asked the heads of the armed forces and the countrys intelligence agency, ISI, to crush the Taliban.

Leader of ANP, Bushra Gohar who condemned the assassination attempt on Malala, suggested on October 15 stern actions against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and supported military operation in North Waziristan where Taliban have their hideouts.
However, we need to grasp reality in wake of controversial debate regarding clean up operation against all the Taliban.

In the last six years, the Taliban who have killed thousands of people across Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA through suicide attacks, targeted killings, beheadings, assaults on military troops, police stations, sectarian violence etc, destroyed hundreds of schools of girls and boys. They have discouraged womens education, keeping them ignorant and exploitable. But they justify them to wage their holly war by killing the moderate dissidents.

When Taliban had their hold in Dir, Swat, Buner and other adjoining areas, they imposed their self-styled religious agenda far removed from Islamic teachings. It was due to Talibans inhuman activities that when in 2009, Pak Army ejected them from these areas through military operations, general masses did not protest against the armed forces.

Meanwhile, more than 50 Islamic scholars of the Sunni Ittehad Council issued a joint fatwa, terming attack on Malala as un-Islamic. They pointed out that the assailants self-adopted interpretation of Islam was nothing but ignorance and digression from the actual Islamic teachings. They clarified that Islam made it obligatory on every man and woman to seek educationstrictly forbids taking life of innocent persons, which is not jihad. Besides, Shia religious scholars also condemned Malala incident.

In fact, Taliban and their banned affiliated groups are defaming Islam which is the religion of peace, moderation and human rights.

It is also mentionable that foreign agents backed by American CIA, Indian RAW, and Israel Mossad are also penetrated in Taliban outfits. By availing the anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan activities of the Taliban, these agencies are defaming Islam and are propagating abroad that Muslims are terrorists, besides undermining the security of Pakistan. In this context, just after Malala event, a new wave of suicide attacks and bomb blasts have started in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA.

Nevertheless, Talibans dreadful attempt on Malala has distorted Pakistans image in the world as various countries like US, France, Australia, Germany and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon have condemned this heinous attack by protesting against the Taliban.

Nonetheless, these extremist elements do not want to see Pakistan a moderate, peaceful and developed country by isolating it from international community.

Now, a majority of people wants that a handful of terrorist elements must not be allowed to impose their self-created ideology in the country.

Regarding drone attacks, we should know that we are facing unjust world order as IMF and World Bank are under the influence of US-led major countries. Every time, Pakistan which has been facing multiple crises, gets loan after American green signal Despite it, opposition has started in other western countries and even in the US against these aerial attacks. So US would be compelled to stop these predator strikes.

As regards military operation in North Waziristan, recently, while dispelling speculations of foreign media, Gen. Kayani reiterated, We might, if necessary, undertake operations in NWA, in the timeframe of our choosing as determined only by our political and military requirements. It will never be a result of any outside pressure. Earlier, he stated, the army has always considered peoples support vital for its operations against terrorists.

Recently, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik ruled out any possibility of military operation in North Waziristan.

Motivations behind Akhtar Mengal’s Visit

By Brig (Retd) Asif Haroon Raja

Balochistan continues to simmer and has reached a boiling point because of breakdown of law and order and absence of governance by the provincial government and has the portent of turning catastrophic. Spree of target killings continues; in Khuzdar such incidents are taking place almost daily. In Quetta region, the Hazaras are constantly attacked. Cruel practice of Wani (a custom to give girls in marriage to settle disputes) is continuing. Recently in district Dera Bugti, 13 girls were made Wani. Issue of missing persons and mutilated bodies continues to be overplayed. Attacks on security forces are continuing. Neither Pakistan flags are being hoisted nor national anthem sung in schools/colleges in Baloch dominated districts. The politicized police have become ineffective while the Levies operate on orders of Sardars. The chief minister spends most of his time in Islamabad and is more interested in acquiring modern jet aircraft worth Rs 1.7 billion for his personal use. The situation has become so deplorable because of the dismal performance of Raisani led government that in exasperation the chief justice stated that Balochistan government had lost its constitutional authority to govern the province. He sounded a note of stern warning that if the worsening security situation is not rectified the court would be left with no choice but to issue such orders that would pave the way for the fall of the central and provincial government.

After his three years of self-imposed exile in Dubai, Akhtar Mengal decided to return to Pakistan and make his submissions in the Supreme Court hearing missing person’s case. Some of the reasons which in all probability motivated him to make a brief sojourn to Pakistan were the worsening state of affairs in his home province where the government is almost non-existent and has lost its writ; agenda of separation actively pursued by the two dissident Baloch Sardars in exile and backup support given to them by foreign powers; burning issue of missing persons in Balochistan, attracting the attention of the international community particularly after the visit of UN group; the supreme court taking cognizance of the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan and putting the FC and intelligence agencies on the mat on the issue of enforced disappearances; and most importantly Nawaz Sharif led PML-N and Imran Khan led PTI volunteering to cover his flanks and endorsing his six points, and chief justice led Supreme Court providing the judicial cover.

Apart from these undercurrents, he must have realized that the Baloch insurgency and separatist agenda despite foreign backing were not making any headway and 2-3000 fighters operating from the Farari camps in the hills were getting restless and unruly. The reason for their despair is the horrendous fate of some of their colleagues who desired to return home. Used as gun fodder, their numbers are decreasing and reinforcements have reduced to a trickle. One reason of this change in mindset is the spurt of educational and development activities and opening of avenues for the youth in Balochistan. They have learnt that thousands of Baloch youth are getting admissions in schools and colleges in Sui and Kohlu and receiving free education in high standard educational institutes in Quetta and other towns. They also gathered that large numbers have got jobs in armed force and government departments.

There are credible reports that the rebels leading a hard life have got tired, exhausted and disheartened. Staying away from families and living in wilderness for seven years has demoralized them and it has become extremely difficult for their leaders, mostly leading a posh life elsewhere, trainers and patrons to keep them under their leash. They have found out that all those who were getting desperate to call off militancy and return to their homes were abducted, brutally tortured to death, their bodies disfigured and dumped at public places. This policy is aimed at killing two birds with one stone; blame the security agencies and put them on the defensive, and at the same time terrify the mutinous militants and keep them disciplined. They have gathered that the death squads within BLA, BRA and BLF, commandeered by RAW, CIA, RAAM and Mosad are behind such dastardly acts. Hindi-Jewish-American joint terrorist unit has abducted and murdered large numbers of Baloch youngsters.

Akhtar Mengal became conscious that the separatist Baloch leaders had very limited support base in Baluchistan and lacked unity. Bugti-Marri-Mengal alignment, forcibly grafted by USA being artificial has now cracked up. The BLA, BRA and BLF funded, trained and equipped with sophisticated weapons and communication sets cannot even tackle the FC what to talk of confronting and defeating the Army. Mengal grasped the price the Baloch nationalists had to pay for boycotting the 2008 elections since the political vacuum was filled by opportunists and rootless political parties from other provinces. Sensing that next elections were round the corner, he appreciated that Baloch nationalist parties could ill-afford to let go this opportunity since it would amount to political death for times to come. He knew that until and unless the Baloch movement got converted into high intensity insurgency and that too all over the province duly supported by the people, the chance of which was slim, no foreign power would risk intervention.

Other than these rambling assumptions, the thing which is intriguing is his six points. These are: A. All covert and overt military operations against the Baloch should immediately be suspended. B. All missing persons to be presented before a court of law. C. All proxy death squads operating under the supervision of ISI and MI should be disbanded. D. Unbridled freedom to Baloch political parties to function and resume their political activities without interference from intelligence agencies. E. Persons responsible for inhuman torture, killing and dumping of dead bodies of the Baloch political leaders and activists should be brought to justice. F. Rehabilitation of thousands of displaced persons living in appalling condition.

His six points are not aimed at removing the sense of deprivation or the rights of the people of Balochistan or for political empowerment. In fact, not a single point pertains to socio-politico-economic grievances which the Baloch leaders have been consistently airing. The entire thrust in the package is on reining in the Army, the FC, ISI and MI. There is no lament on the deplorable performance of the provincial government which has utterly failed to provide security to the people, and alleviate their sufferings. Although amongst his six-points, no point is against the constitution; however he tensed the atmosphere by hurling an ultimatum to accept his six points and keep Pakistan united or reject them and lose Balochistan. By saying so, he rekindled the stubborn stance of late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his six points, which were a secession plan in abridged form.

We must not forget that Akhtar Mengal had left Pakistan at his own accord as a highly angry man and his views were no different than other dissident exiled Sardars. During his self-imposed exile, very little effort had been made by the government or any political leader to woo and placate him and bring him back home. An embittered man never goes into hibernation. Rather he becomes more resentful and gives vent to his rage by sharing his views and contriving how to settle scores with his adversaries. Likewise, those already seized with an agenda would never let go such opportunities. RAW, Mosad, CIA and MI-6 are notorious for exploiting the runaways to achieve their sinister objectives. Well-knowing, how deeply Brahamdagh Bugti, Harbyar Marri, Dr. Wahid Baloch and Suleiman Daood have been cultivated by these agencies, there is no reason why they would have spared Akhtar Mengal. To what extent he has been brainwashed is anyone’s guesswork. In case he is in the stranglehold, he should be wooed, given respect and won over.
