Follow the essence of the Pakistan resolution

By Sajjad Shaukat

The 23rd of March 1940 was a watershed in the history of the Sub Continent, when All India Muslim League passed the Resolution in Lahore for the creation of an independent state. Now, it is popularly called as Pakistan Resolution. Earlier, in his address to the Muslim League at Allahabad in 1930, the idea of a homeland for Muslims in their majority areas had been envisioned by the poet Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal, and had become the aspiration of Indian Muslims.

As a matter of fact, the British colonialists in connivance with majority Hindu population had manipulated and targeted Muslims through every possible way. In that background, Muslims started struggle for a separate state.

Prior to the Lahore session of Muslim League, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had specified to this historical congregation of the Muslims, the watch-words of Faith, Unity and Discipline which were not only necessary for waging the battle for an independent homeland, but also for present Pakistan. So, while struggling against the enemies, the essence of these watch-words, is unity which is the real spirit of the Pakistan Resolution. However, it was due to the strong unity among the Muslims under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam that Pakistan became a tangible reality. But that unity started declining after passing through various crises, and the result was separation of East Pakistan in 1971.

The 23rd March which is celebrating by every Pakistani as the Pakistan Day, has come at a time when Pakistan is facing multiple threats of grave nature, which are not only worrying all the citizens, but also putting the very integration of the state at stake.

Unfortunately, it is because of lack of solidarity among our politicians, leaders and media that foreign opportunists have been manipulating the chaotic situation of Pakistan in order to fulfill their secret agenda by destabilising the country. In the past few years, nefarious designs of secret agencies like American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad can be gauged from a number of anti-Pakistan developments such as their support to insurgency in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, separatism in Balochistan and targeted killings especially in Karachi coupled with subversive acts all over the country. In fact, the US-led India and Israel is creating unrest in Pakistan through their spy agencies which have deployed their collective networks throughout Pakistan. These elements are supporting violent acts in our country on daily basis. Notably, the US seems determined to shift Afghan war to Pakistan after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, as Obama administration has already started a covert war against Pakistan where these foreign secret agencies are also assisting their affiliated militants and agents with money and weapons.

Besides, American double game with Islamabad, pressuring the latter to do more against the militants by ignoring the internal backlash, drone strikes on FATA, threat of sanctions regarding inauguration of Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project, accusation of cross border terrorism, perennial propaganda about Talibanisation of the country, Pak Army, countrys intelligence agency, ISI including Indias distortion of Pakistans ideology, its history, violations across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir etc.clearly show future aims of the US, India and Israel which want to denuclearise Pakistan.

It looks that the ongoing deteriorated situation is not being grasped by the general masses and even the political leaders at large, who abruptly change their opinion without logic. Therefore, they become unintentional victimbenefiting the external plotters who seek to weaken Pakistan by creating a rift among the political groups, divided on ethnic and linguistic lines. These foreign enemies also seek to create a division between the political leaders on one side, while Pak Army and ISI on the other.

It is regrettable that on the one hand, countrys multiple crises indicate that Pakistan is rapidly advancing towards a failed state due to the sinister designs of the external forces, while on the other, our media, particularly most of the TV channels conduct controversial debate between politicians and commentators, contesting internal politics. Besides our media, so-called human rights groups and NGOs are also following the propaganda of the external elements. In this regard, sometimes, these entities manipulate memogate scandal, sometimes case of the missing persons and sometimes Mehrangate issue in maligning Pakistan Army and countrys superior agency. In this context, let us know the example of the missing personsa majority of these people include those people who were either kidnapped or killed by foreign-backed secret agents and their affiliated insurgent groups. Many of the disappeared persons also went to Afghanistan for Jehad purposes, while some of them joined the Jehadi groups inside Pakistan.

Nevertheless, like the anti-Pakistan enemies, our internal entities have ignored the sacrifices of these security agencies against terrorism. Now, they have started a new practice of taking some cases to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, without knowing the fact that it is likely to demoralise the armed forces and ISI which are essential for maintaining the integrity of the country.

It is our misfortune that at this critical hour, while situation demands selfless unity, both our media anchors and some politicians exploit every terror-incident or negative development against Pakistan. While, it was owing to the non-interference of army that the civil government completed its tenure, but these media commentators kept on targeting countrys key security institutions in one way or the other. As regards the forthcoming elections, on renowned TV channels, our politicians oppose their rivals for the sake of opposition. Accusation and counteraccusations have become their routine practice. In this respect, they opine as to what the people want, but conceal as to what people actually need? Especially, it seems that a majority of Pakistans media anchors and human rights organisations are on the payroll of external enemies.

While Pakistans economic crisis has accelerated, bringing about other-related problems like loadshedding of gas and electricity, unemployment and soaring prices of products.
Today Pakistan stands at the crossroads of its destiny, facing internal and external threats to the national security of the country. Besides, people of Pakistan, its security forces and intelligence agencies are coping with suicide attacks, bomb blasts, sectarian violence and target-killings including sporadic battles with the militants in the tribal areas.

At this critical moment, the 23rd March demands true national unity. We can also deduce it from the statement of Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani who, while taking note of the present critical situation, repeatedly stressed upon national unity. Kayani especially explained on June 9, 2011, Any effort to create divisions between important institutions of the country is not in national interestthe people of Pakistan whose support the army has always considered vital for its operations against terrorists. Recently, he has again emphasised upon unity.

This significant day demands that our political leaders must pledge that they will not manipulate their regional and provincial differences at the cost of the national interests so as to grab political power. In this context, a blind dedication to ones own race, tribe and creed should not be allowed to create hatred in one group against the other. They must avoid exploiting present thorny issues in order to increase their vote-bank at the cost of security agencies. If any controversy arises, it can better be settled in consonance with the constitution. For this aim, in order to castigate the conspiracy of the external enemies against the integrity of the country, our political leaders, media and human rights groups must also stop manipulating any crisis against Pak Army and ISI whose image are deliberately being tarnished by the external plotters.

True unity against the foreign enemies requires that our rulers and leaders of other political parties and must create national cohesion among various segments of society. Particularly, our electronic media should give a matching response to malicious propaganda of the US-led some western countries including India and Israel which are distorting the image of Pakistan, its army and ISI. Pakistans TV commentators must openly disclose the collective connivance of CIA, RAW and Mossad regarding their support to subversive acts inside our country and against Pak nukes.

No doubt, at this crucial time, Pakistans survival lies in selfless unity and strong cohesion as at present, even a layman can note that our country is in chaos and it seems as if there is a war of all against all in the sense of Hobbesian state of nature.

We must follow the essence of the Pakistan Resolution through real unity which is not possible unless the government, the opposition leaders, civil societies and media owners pledge to sign a charter of integration which is very necessary to pull the country out of the ongoing serious crises.

PML(N) manifesto welcomed

Special Report by Brig. (Retd) Usman Khalid, Director Rifah Institute of Foreign Affairs (RIFA)

The manifesto of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) shows the party has competent professionals in its economic team.

I read the manifesto of PML(N) and I was surprised that it is more than a wish list that election manifestos usually are. It is a list of objectives and outline of strategy, which is what a manifesto ought to be. I am particularly impressed with the fact that PML(N) has grasped the idea that socio-economic development is driven and accelerated by setting lofty objectives and then creating the wherewithal for achieving those objectives. The performance of PML(N) in office supports the conclusion that it has grasped how a course for development is charted and pursued. During its brief stints in office in the past, the Party built the first motorway and that also without borrowing from the World Bank or the ADB. During its five years in office in the Punjab Province, the party completed the Metrobus project and the Ring Road in Lahore, and undertook Daanish Schools and several other projects, all of which have been designed to high specification and built to international standards. This is the approach taken by China which has enabled the country to catch up and in some areas even surpass the developed world in about 25 years. That the leadership team of PML(N) is eager and able to follow that formula augurs well for Pakistan.

My objective here is not to praise the Manifesto but to point towards areas where I feel the manifesto is inadequate:

Although the economic team appears to be well aware of the internal and international instruments available to increase investment, the target for annual GDP growth is low i.e. 6%. It could easily be 8+% per annum (p.a.).

The budget deficit at present is 6+% p.a. The manifesto objective is to lower it 4%. To arrest inflation, it needs to be lowered even further to 3%.

The target for inflation has been set at 7-8% which is much lower than what it is now but it needs to come down to international norm – 4-5% – and a strategy for lower discount rate should be outlined to achieve that.

There should be a target for exchange rate. Rs 75 to a US Dollar over three years is recommended.

The manifesto objective is to increase the tax to GDP ratio from the present 9% to 15%. However, no economic strategy or tax changes have been outlined. What is confusing is that lower taxation is also a manifesto objective, which would reduce the ratio, not increase it. Increase in import duties in tune with appreciation of the Rupee and lowering the threshold for Income Tax to 300,000 p.a. is recommended to achieve the higher ratio.

The target of industrial growth is set at 7-8%, which is low. The idea of clusters is a good one. But more clusters e.g. for pharmaceutical industry in Lahore and chemical industry in Potohar and Thar may be added. Industrial clusters in combination with new cities and towns are the idea by which China has maintained double digit growth rate.

National Health Service. It is welcome that the idea of NHS has been embraced. But the outline provided in the manifesto indicates that the PML(N) proposes to organise it on American lines based on Health Insurance. The American system is the most expensive in the world and yet it does not provide free service to ALL at the point of delivery, which is the principle on which NHS is organised in the UK and Europe. NHS in Pakistan must be based on free service except for medicines. Since funds for a completely free service may not be available with provinces, the GP services may be funded by a standard uniform charge of say Rs 50 per person per month. Those unable to pay the monthly charge for their family and for medicines may be helped by payment directly from Zakat.

Local Government. It is not clear from the manifesto what system of local government is preferred or prescribed by PML(N). There is no need to hurry. It should be considered by a Commission of experts perhaps alongside proposals for new or redefined provinces.

New Provinces. The support of PML(N) to three new provinces one carved out of KPK and two from the Punjab shows that the Party is not fully aware of the agenda of those who have raised the demand in the first place. The agenda is based on research by US think tanks and India RAW. They fund individuals and parties which campaign for Karachi to be separated from Sindh and the Seraiki speaking area separated from the Punjab. Their line of argument is as follows:

Pakistan is primarily rural. It is rural Pakistan that puts a party in power but it is agitation in the cities which destabilises and removes a government. However, the complexion of the population of cities and surrounding area is more or less the same. It is only the city of Karachi where the majority in the City is Mohajir but the people in the surrounding area are mostly Sindhi. Therefore, even a popular government can be destabilised, discredited and removed from power by Mohajir of Karachi. After decades of effort, RAW and the CIA were able to create a surrogate in the shape of the MQM to achieve a capability to remove even a popular Administration. It is in their role as RAW surrogate that they oppose the Kalabagh Dam, support Seraiki province and autonomy for provinces on the lines of Sheikh Mujibs Six Points.

The largest province of Pakistan before 1971 was East Pakistan. The Hindu minority had influence over education, the press and the judiciary which it used to plant and popularise the idea that the Bengalis were oppressed and exploited. We know the result; the lies were not nailed and falsehood prevailed in East Pakistan. Now the Punjab is the largest province but it is so committed to the unity of the nation and integrity of the country that it has willingly made sacrifice of its share of water in the 1991 Water Accord and the new NFC Award. Unless separatism becomes acceptable to the largest province a country cannot be broken up. CIA surrogates were placed in position of power and influence in erstwhile Soviet Union to get Russia, which was the largest province, to opt for the break up of the Soviet Union. But the CIA and RAW surrogates did not succeed in the Punjab. They have reached the conclusion that the Punjab must be broken up before Pakistan breaks up.

Today, opposition to the break up of Sindh and Punjab is test a party must pass to establish its credentials as patriotic. I do not believe the PML(N) is not patriotic; but it can be misguided into believing and supporting the break of the Punjab. It must take notice of the agenda of the enemy before it writes such ill considered points in its manifesto. The provincial boundaries are a product of history and entail more heartburn in changing them than even a countrys boundaries. This was said by a person no less than Late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto when opposing One Unit in West Pakistan. What is perhaps the best solution is to create another tier of government wilayat – between the province and the district under a Wali or Lieutenant Governor responsible for land revenue and records and law and order.

Foreign Policy. Defence, security and foreign policy is the weakest part of the manifesto. It appears that the policy team in such fields is either non-existent or inadequate. The blunders during Kargil War in the last PML(N) Administration revealed weaknesses in the very same area. Besides, the centrality of the Kashmiri struggle for self determination has not been recognised in the formulation of foreign policy. Objectives and strategy in defence and foreign policy are conspicuous by their absence. Surprisingly, the EU, ECO, SAARC, ASEAN and SCO have been listed as if all were equal in importance to Pakistan. The fact is that SAARC groups unlike peoples with divergent interests which is used by India as an instrument of regional hegemony whereas ECO is group of ten Muslim nations with complementary interests which should have drawn more attention in the manifesto. I would recommend that Union of ECO states on the lines of the EU should be among the top foreign policy objectives alongside the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir. The importance of the liberation of J&K has become even more important as India has started building more than 100 dams in J&K in violation of the Indus Basin treaty. The Union of ECO States should be the prime plank of defence and security policy.

Baluchistan. The write up on Baluchistan in the manifesto is disappointing. It relies on the media line that the present situation is the product of neglect and mal-treatment of the Baloch tribes. Presenting late Nawab Akbar Bugti and angry Baluch as a heroes and the Army as the villain is pregnant with great risks for the future. The manifesto ignores the actual facts that; 1) the Baluch are a minority in the province and the Pashtun the majority and there is no insurgency in Pashtun areas; 2) even in the areas inhabited by Baluch tribes, Nasirabad Division and the coastal belt are largely peaceful and the people see the angry Baluch leaders as foreign agents and a menace against who they seek protection of the federal government which has not been forthcoming; 3) even in Marri-Bugti areas and Mengal tribesmen alternative leadership has since emerged which is loyal to Pakistan but is afraid that Mian Nawaz Sharif may abandon them as he is obviously close to the discarded leaders who hope to ride back to prominence and power on his shoulders. If the PML(N) follows the policy on Baluchistan that Mian Nawaz Sharif has often voiced, his future Administration is likely to be on the wrong side of not only the military but also the Baluch who are loyal to Pakistan.

PML(N) manifesto is a well considered document which gives confidence that the party has a good economic management team. Its inadequacies are easily remedied by including more persons with experience and insight into defence and security matters and foreign policy.

Shining India: How to control rapes & killings

By Zaheerul Hassan

On 9th March 2013 United States has honoured the Indian23 years old psychotherapist who was brutally murdered after a gang-rape in a bus in New Delhi in December 2012. The young student, who has become known simply as Nirbhaya or fearless, was awarded the US International Women of Courage award posthumously. At this occasion US Sectery John Kerry told the participants of the ceremony that bravery of the lady student inspired millions of men and women to come together with a simple message No more,. We never imagined that the girl we thought was our daughter would one day be the daughter of the entire world, her parents wrote in a message to the ceremony that was read out by Kerry.

In fact, awarding nine women for their courageous actions is not the solution of curtailing crimes against women till the time organizations of human rights and supper power do not condemn and force Indian rulers to stop state terrorism and violence against women in Kashmiris, Maoists, Tamils and Nagaland.

On 31 December 2012, Annie Banerji also mentioned in Reuters Rape Report that in this year on average every 20 minutes in India. Annie further added that just 26 percent of the cases resulted in convictions, according to the National Crime Records Bureau, which registered 24,206 rapes in 2011, up from 22,141 the previous year.

Ghaziabad police chief Nitin Tewari also confirmed that on 7 March in the latest case of sexual violence has a 19-year-old woman was abducted by three men in an auto-rickshaw, robbed her cash, cell phone and gang-raped in New Delhi’s suburb of Ghaziabad. The woman said she yelled for help as auto drove through several police check points but no one helped. The suspects threw her out near a highway after assaulting her in a secluded area, police said.

Media have compared the incident to the fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old medical student in December that sparked massive street protests and demands for stricter laws against sexual assault, which has a high incidence rate in India.

According to the NDTV, report in the same week , three-year and 12 years old girls were l was kidnapped and raped in the southern state of Kerala and in a school in the central city of Nagpur.

Notably, in most of the cases girls under 18 have been raped and assaulted sexually just in India capital in the last week of February 2013.

On 10 February 2013, New Indian express initiated a very alarming picture of Indian society. The report reveals that domestic, local intellectuals and writers, the Western media has almost declared India as a semi-barbaric society. And now the world is asking whether India is a nation of rapists and killers of women. Only facts, not words, can answer this question. The report further states, What a certificate for a rising India that the National Intelligence Council of the US in its report released four days before the Delhi rape had predicted India to become one of the three world powers by 2030

In fact, Indian society is probably devoid of senses of cultural society and Western Media has opined that rapes are something that only happens in India. In this connection, BBC reports is also very shocking in which statics shows that a woman is raped in Delhi every 14 hours, which equates to 625 a year, in England and Wales which has a population 3.5 times that of Delhi, the proportion is four time larger: 9,509 against Delhis 625.

On 5 August 2012, Gitika Sharma 23 former air hostess has committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Ashok Vihar in North-West Delhi. According to the reports late Gitika Sharma has named Haryana minister Gopal Kanda in her suicide note. The police confirmed in their investigations that allegations leveled against the minister. According to the Gitika friend, she has been even asked to establish sexual relations by the minister. The girls family too alleges that she was mentally and physically tortured by Mr Kanda.

It is mentionable here that very sexual harassment has become a very common phenomenon in India as compare to others Asian countries. 24% self staff of female gender has carried out suicide because of sexual abuses.

The Indian Army too has been rocked by series of corruption and discipline cases in recent years, with land, liquor, sex, and other scams involving General officers. Even females working in armed forces have been sexually assaulted. In this connection, numbers of cases have been registered by their seniors and colleagues.

Indian media reported that females along either side of Indo-Myanmar, Indo- Bangladesh and Indo-Nepal borders are also victims of forced rapes by frustrating Indian soldiers. It is high time that over 20 senior officers (Brig or above) faced charges of corruption, moral turpitude in past 4 years.

Maj Gen AK Lal, dismissed after proven guilty of sexually assault a junior woman officer. In Jul 09 Capt Poonam, ASC, has alleged 3 officers for mental sexual harassment. But unfortunately the same lady has been thrown out of army. Again on 03 Jun 10, Engr-in-Chief Lt Gen Nanda, was asked by Indian Army chief to quit on molesting the wife of his Tech Sectary but Gen has been made clear through local type inquiry.

Analysis of above mentioned cases reveals that so called pro-westerns minded scholars and pundits of bollywood are promoting violence through screen, print and electronic media. Poor people and young generation get impressed from the violent actions and adopt shortcuts for improving the life style and ill satisfactions. Robberies, fraud, sexual harassment against female employees and raping young girls have become the common features of degrading Indian society.

Increasing crime ratio can be controlled if Indian government is willing to pay heed to the actual problems of the society rather than posing glorious picture of Indian masked society. There is a need to take ruthless actions against corrupt mafia of armed forces, intelligence agencies and political elite. Global associations of human rights should condemned ruthless brutality against women and should launch an organize campaigns for protection of women rights in Kashmir, Tamils, Maoists territory, border areas, and rest of India.

Kashmir seeks serious attention

By Aslam Kanwan

Kashmiris are struggling for more than 6 decades for their right of Self-Determination from India. Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK) has lost Kashmiris in this struggle. Kashmir is a global and conflicted issue. After 1947 the state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided between Pakistan and India as India refused to honor the wishes of the people of Kashmir. After the partitioning of Hindustan into Pakistan and India, the Hindu raja Harry Singh announced the merger of Kashmir with India. The attempt was against the will of Muslims.

According to “Two Nations Theory” Hindu and Muslim can’t live together that’s why from more than 60 years Kashmir is burning because Kashmiris are Muslim and have separate identity and territory. They want to live separately but India is occupying on Kashmir brutally. As this is against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In UDHR the Article 13 there is clearly written, ” Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state”.

But innocent Kashmiris have no freedom in their on state.

India is completely violating UNO declaration on Human Rights and is not acting on the resolution that was passed by UNO on Kashmir issue.

This is alarming situation. 70 years are near to complete but no one is taking it seriously and talking about it. We daily see in pictures the brutality of Indian army on old people and women. Now where are the champion of human rights and those agencies who are fighting for human rights?

Kashmiris are facing Indian brutality from year and no one is there to help them for their rights.

I want to clear to those who say that Muslims are terrorists. Shame on you people tell me what is being done with Muslims in Palestine, What is being done with the Rohingya Muslims of Burma and what is happening on Waziristan?

Now it is clear that it is a conspiracy to tease and weaken the Muslims. These enemies want to destroy us and they are making plan daily.

Pakistan should take serious attention to resolve this issue. They Kashmiris are burning in blood from more than 6 decades and we just celebrate only Kashmir Solidarity Day” one in a year.

This is not enough and we should take it seriously because Kashmir is our integral part and we don’t want the dirty presence of India on our heaven.

On the solidarity day I was listening the statement of Imran khan that when he will come to power, Kashmir issue will be his top priority and he will solve this problem…

I can’t understand the hypocrisy of our leader why they says when they will come to power they will solve this and that problem.

I want to ask from khan that if you think that you have goodwill in India and if you say that you are sincere to Kashmiris people than why you dont start assisting present government to solve this issue. Why are you waiting. Its only your Power Politics and you only want to come to power thats why you are making fools the nation.

Please grow up and keep in mind nation is power.

Official confession of ‘Hindu Terrorism’

By Sajjad Shaukat

A deliberate propaganda campaign keeps on going by the US, some western countries, Israel and India regarding Talibanisation of Pakistan under the pretext of perennial subversive acts like suicide attacks, bomb blasts, targeted killings and sectarian violence which secret agencies like American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad have been arranging in the country through their affiliated militant outfits. They intend to destabilise Pakistan because it is the only nuclear country in the Islamic World. For the purpose, Indo-Israeli lobbies which are well-penetrated in the US administration have left no stone unturned in distorting the image of Pakistan. They manipulate every terror-event which takes place in Pakistan. For example, despite the fact that Pakistans rulers, political and religious leaders strongly condemned the failed attempt by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Malala Malala Yousafzai, but America and some western countries have been exploiting the episode in tarnishing the image of the country. They are showing to the international community that Pakistan has become a failed state due to terrorism.

On the other side, US-led western countries and their media neglect Hindu terrorism which has now been officially confessed by India. In this regard, exposing the nexus between Bhartia Janta Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Indian Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde disclosed on January 20, this year that organised training camps run by the fundamentalist parties, RSS and BJP were promoting Hindu Terrorism. He also explained that these extremist parties were behind the Samjhauta Express, Meccca Masjid and Malegaon blasts. He added, We will have to think about it (Saffron terrorism) seriouslyHindu extremist parties BJP and RSS were involved many times in Hindu Muslim violence in India, especially Gujarat and Babri masjid incident.

By setting aside the so-called protest of BJP, RSS and other political leaders, Indias External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid endorsed Shindes statement, saying that it was based on facts. Meanwhile, Indian Home Secretary R K Singh revealed that during investigation, the government found ten names of the Hindu extremists, associated with RSS, who were involved in these terror attacks including Ajmer Sharif.

While, India has always accused Pakistan of these subversive acts, but it is quite silent over Hindutva (Hindu nationalism) terror which has obtained a new face as Indian RAW, countrys high officials and fundamentalist parties have co-relationship.

In fact, ideology of Hindu nationalism prevails in every field at the cost of other minority groups. It is even supported by Indian defence forces secretly. This could be judged from the incident, when on April 6, 2008 in the house of Bajrang Dal fundamentalists in Nanded, a bomb went off. The investigation proved that these militants were found in bomb-making and attack on a mosque in Parbhani in 2003. Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Maharashtra arrested a serving Lt. Col. Srikant Purohit along with other army officials, indicating that they were helping in training the Hindu terrorists, providing them with the military-grade explosive RDX, used in the Malegaon bombings and terrorist attacks in other Indian cities. ATS further disclosed that Lt. Col. Purohit confessed that in 2007, he was involved in bombing of Samjhota express, which brunt alive 70 Pakistanis.

Indias National Investigation Agency (NIA) is convinced that Sadhu Swami Aseemanand, a Hindu right-wing leader was directly involved in the Samjhota Express blast. Sources in NIA further pointed out that besides Lt. Col. Purohit, other Indian army officials were also behind that train-bombing. In this regard, a court in Panchkula, Haryana has recorded Aseemanands statement which confirmed the NIA inquiry.

Swami Aseemanand also confessed in the court that several RSS preachers and Sang activists were directly involved in planning, financing and executing Malegaon, Samjhauta Express, Ajmer and Mecca Masjid blasts. He stated that various leaders of Hindu communal organisations including Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Abhinav Bharat, Jai Vande Matram and Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram were also behind these blasts.

With the backing of Indian high officials, leaders of the Indian extremist parties, Shiv Sena, BJP, VHP and RSS were pressurising the Congress regime to release the all culprits.

It is noteworthy that in various tapes, LT. Col Purohit said, We are all on the same plane, Hindu Rashtra (Nation). He even claimed that Gen. J J Singh is with us. (Singh was Army Chief till Sept. 2007). Significantly, Purohit mentioned that one of our own captain had visited Israel, and demanded continuous supply of arms, training, an office with a saffron flag in Tel Aviv, political asylum and support for our cause of a Hindu Nation in the UN. The Israelis, he added, gave a very positive response.

Notably, The Times of India reported on December 17, 2010 that Congress Partys heir, Rahul Gandhi feels that the bigger threat to India may be the growth of radicalised Hindu groups which create religious tension and political confrontation with the Muslim community.

Particularly, Indian Hindus are followers of Chanakya (Say some thing else and do some thing else). This fact has been verified by the misdeeds of Hindu fundamentalist parties like BJP, RSS, VHP, Shiv Sina and Bajrang Dal which have missed no opportunity to communalise national politics of India even under the Congress rule. With the support of Indian officials and RAW agents, these parties have been launching anti-Christian and anti-Muslim bloodshed coupled with the dissemination of Hindutva.

Apart from the past genocide of Muslims and destruction of the Babri Mosque, more than 2500 Muslims were massacred in 2002 in the BJP-ruled Indian state of Gujarat. Both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have charged the Gujarat state administration for involvement in a massive cover-up of the states role in that massacre and pointed out numerous police officialsspecifically ministers, high officials and leaders of the VHP, BJP and Bajrang Dal as participants.

Similarly, in the recent years, assaults on Christians, their churches and property have been executed by the Hindu mobs in various Indian cities. In this respect, at least 60 Christians have been assassinated in the recent past by Hindu extremists in the state of Orissa. Other religious minorities of India are also target of Hindutva terror.

In Maharashtra, non-Hindu communities have lived in constant fear and awe since the advent of the fundamentalist party, Shiv Sena whose Chief Bal Thackeray (The late) has organised army of hoodlums to beat up any religious minority, openly directing the Hindu terrorists to loot and stone any of their shop or house. Lack of serious action by the subsequent governments against Shiv Senas vandalism has clearly defeated the secular echoes of India which is in fact a secular terroist state.

As regards Hindu terrorism, on November 7, 2011, leader of the VHP, Pravin Togadia, in his furious speech questioned the past of Muslims and Christians, and further gave a call to Hindus to capture the Islamic holy places in Arab and Vatican of Europe.

Besides, Hindutva terror is also employed in the occupied Kashmir. In this context, in 2008, a rights group reported unmarked graves in 55 villages across the northern regions of the controlled Kashmir, while other groups reported about thousands of mass graves without markers. In this context, in the last few years, rights groups discovered more than 3,000 unnamed graves in the various districts of Kashmir.

Especially, in August, 2011, Indian Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) officially acknowledged in its report that innocent civilians killed in the two-decade conflict have been buried in unmarked graves. Notably, foreign sources and human rights organisations have said that unnamed graves include those innocent persons, killed by the Indian military and para-military troops in the fake encounters including those who were tortured to death by RAW.

Indian official confession also shows that Mumbai terror attacks of 2008 were in fact, arranged by RAW in connivance with Indian home-grown terrorists, while Indian top officials were accusing Pakistans intelligence agency, ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in this respect.

Notably, western countries have interests in India which serves as their largest market. And the US has also its strategic interests in the region, while New Delhi is its main ally to counterbalance China in Asia. It is owing to these collective interests that like his predecessor, Obama ignores Hindu terrorism which has become a dangerous reality for international community after the official confession of Indian rulers. Now, the right hour has come that the US-led these powers should break their prolonged sleep by banning Hindu terrorist groups through UNO.

Shinde on Hindutva Terror: Terminological Confusions

By Ram Puniyani

Protests are being organized and threats to stall the proceedings of next Lok Sabha session are being dished out to oppose the Home Minister Sushil Kukar Shindes statement about the Hindu terrorism, its links with BJP and RSS. (23 Jan 2013). There are two major components of this statement. One is the use of the prefix Hindu for terrorism, and two about RSS-BJP links with terror training camps. What Shinde called Hindu terrorism has also been called Saffron terrorism or Hindutva terrorism. This prefix is to point out to acts of terror indulged in by the likes of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Swami Aseemanand, Col. Prasad Shrikant Purohit, Kalsangara, Sunil Joshi and many like them who were either actively associated with the ideology of Hindutva, or even were organizationally associated with RSS. Others were at that time or previously linked with some progeny of RSS like ABVP, Bajrang Dal etc. Many of them were part of organizations like Sanatan Sanstha, Abhinav Bhararat, who again aim at the goal of Hindu Nation or are ideologically inspired by the agenda of RSS.

The home ministers remarks are based on investigations done Anti Terror Squads of different states and by National Investigation Agency. Earlier the announcement was made by the former Union home minister P. Chidambaram, in July 2010, to Parliament that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will probe the terrorist attacks on the Samjhauta Express and examine the conspiracy behind the attack, including the links of the accused in terrorist attacks at Malegaon (September 8, 2006), Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad (May 18, 2007) and at the Ajmer dargah (October 11, 2007). He had used the word Saffron terror.

Various such acts of terror in which these people have been involved have been coming to light from last ten years or so. In 2003, in Parbani, Jalna and Jalgaon districts of Maharashtra; in 2005, in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh; in 2006, in Nanded; in January 2008, at the RSS office in Tenkasi, Tirunelveli; in August 2008, in Kanpur etc. Few of the details of some of these acts are very revealing.

On 6th April 2006 two Bajrang Dal workers died when making the bombs. The place where they died belonged to the RSS worker and saffron flag was hoisted atop the hose. There was also a board of Bajrang Dal Nanded Branch on the wall of the house.

In Thane on 4th June 2008, two Hindu Jagran Samiti workers were arrested for planting the bombs in the basement of Gadkari Rangayatan, due to which 7 people got injured. The same group was involved in the blasts in Vashi, Panvel also.

In Goa a bomb kept in a scooter went off on the eve of Divali (17th Oct 2009) in Margao. It killed Malgonda Patil and seriously injured Yogesh Naik. Another bomb was detected in Sancoale in a truck carrying 40 youth for Narkasur competition. Both the activists belonged to Sanatan Sanstha. The second aim of this blast was to create communal tension in Margao, which has a history of communal violence. This group takes inspiration from Savarkar (Hindu Mahasabha) and Hedgewar (RSS) and indoctrinates its members into hating Christians and Muslims.

On 24th August 2008 two Bajrang Dal activists died in Kanpur, while making bombs. The Kanpur zone IGP S.N. Singh stated that their investigations have revealed that this group was planning massive explosions all over the state.

Indian Express, 23 Oct 2008 reports that those involved in the bomb blast in Malegaon and Modasa (Sept 2008) had links with Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Similarly in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu pipe bomb attack on RSS office (Jan.2008) was projected to have been done by Jehadi Muslims.

The common pattern of these acts of terror has been twofold. One, that in few of such cases the activists related to Bajrang Dal or fellow travellers were killed while making the bombs. Second these acts of terror were targeted to kill the Muslims, so these acts were organized at times when the Muslims congregations take place, at the time of namaz or festivals like Shab-e-Barat in Malegaon, or in Ajmer Sharif where they come in large numbers or Samjhauta express where the major number of travellers is Muslims.

While in the initial phase police authorities working under the prejudice that all terrorists are Muslims misdirected their probe, the probe came on the proper track after the Malegaon blasts when the motor cycle of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, the former activist of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, a wing of RSS, came under the scanner and her links with many of those who have been named above and are currently in jail, came to the surface. These facts came to light due to the initiative and immaculate investigation done by the then chief of Maharashtra ATS, Hemant Karkare. Karkare pursued the investigation professionally putting together the threads due to which today most of them are in jails. While pursuing these investigations Karkare came under immense pressure from the politicians belonging to BJP and its close cousin, Shiv Sena. During this time Narendra Modi said that Hemant Karkare is an anti National, (Deshdrohi) and Bal Thackeray in his Saamana wrote that we spit on the face of Karkare. Later Karkare got killed in the Mumbai terror attack of 26/11, 2006.

The people involved in some way were associated to the affiliates of RSS or RSS itself. Mr. Singh, Home secretary has given some of the names from RSS stable who have been allegedly involved in acts of terror:

1. Sunil Joshi (dead), he was an activist of RSS in dewas and Mhow from 1990s to 2003.
2. Sandeep Dange (absconding), He was RSS pracharak in Mhow, Indore, Uttarkashi and Sajhapur from 1990s to 2006.
3. Lokesh Sharma (arrested) He was RSS nagar karyavahak in Deogarh.
4. Swami Assemanand (arrested), He was associated with RSS wing Vanavashi Kalyan Parishad in Dang, Gujarat in 1990s to 2007.
4. Rajender alias Samunder (arrested), He was RSS Varg Vistarak.
5. Mukesh Vasani (arrested), He was an activist of RSS in Godhra.
6. Devender Gupta (arrested), was a RSS pracharak in Mhow and Indore.
7. Chandrasekhar Leve (arrested), was a RSS pracharak in Shajhanpur in 2007.
8. Kamal Chouhan (arrested), was a RSS activist.
9. Ramji Kalsangra (absconding), was a RSS associate.

This is in addition to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Swami Dayanand Pandey, Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit, Retd Major Upadhyay, who have been close to them.

While some beans were spilled by many of these accused the whole picture was pieced together by Swami Aseemanand, when he decided to confess in front of the magistrate. In his confession Swami gave the details of the whole set up raised under his coordination and involving many RSS workers and their associates. The major reason for this whole planning as per him was to counter the Islamic terrorism as witnessed in Sankat Mochan temple etc. and second goal of theirs was to pave the path of Hindu nation.

The later investigation of ATS and now NIA has unearthed the linkages due to which these activists are cooling their heels in jails. Meanwhile in the wake of most of these terror blasts many a Muslim youth were arrested, some of whom were later released for the lack of any credible evidence. So this whole series of terrorists are Hindus. Does this then justify to label this type of terrorism as Hindu terrorism? By no means! Shinde is wrong to label this terrorism as Hindu terrorism.

Is the term saffron terrorism correct? No way. This term was used by many including the then Home minister P. Chidambaram in the wake of the investigations done by Hemant Karkar in the case of Malegaon blasts. While one does not approve the term Hindu terrorism or saffron terrorism at all, one will like to see the background in which this term came to be used.

The RSS routinely adopts resolutions seeking to curb Islamic terrorism with an iron hand. The term Islamic terrorism was first coined by American media in the light of 9/11 act of terror. This was the first major attempt to label an act of terror with religion. This became the most popular word and all and sundry resorted to this word time and over again. This was a deliberate mischief by US to target the Muslims and thereby get legitimacy to launch attacks in the West Asia to control over the oil resources. In India also large section of media picked it up. RSS and its progeny in particular highlighted the religious nature of this terrorism, and the word Jehadi terrorism was the common one to be used. In a way associating terrorism with religion became a dominant norm and it became part of popular perception.

In this backdrop when the acts of terror done by many Hindus came to light, it somehow came to be labelled with prefix Hindu or Saffron. Term Islamic terrorism and Jehadi terrorism is as much wrong as the term Hindu or saffron terror. The right word for first one may be Al Qaeda type of terrorism and for the second, Hindutva terrorism. Here again using Hindutva terrorism is fraught with some misunderstanding. As such Hindutva is a politics aiming at creation of a Hindu nation but due to its containing the word Hindu in it, it is also taken to be a religion in popular understanding. So the dilemma for Shinde! How to label this group of terror deeds? Probably one will like to make it clear that it is Hindutva terrorism, it has nothing to do with Hindu religion and the difference between the terms Hindu (a religion) and Hindutva (a politics) needs to be made clear in popular parlance.

So its hypocritical to make the intense noise while the word Hindu-saffron terrorism is used. Same set of people are using the word Islamic terrorism, Jehadi terrorism and propagating that all terrorists are Muslims. One has to know that the phenomenon of terror has been promoted in the Madrassas specially set up by America in Pakistan to indoctrinate the Muslim youth and bring up Al Qaeda type formations. So why demonize Islam, Muslims and use the term Jehadi terrorism? Both such abuses of religion run parallel to each other.

What about the statement that training camps run by RSS and BJP? In all fairness one conceded that the training camps run by RSS have gone to give the training in rifles but the training centres of bomb making and use are not directly conducted by RSS-BJP. Surely these activities are done by those associated with RSS-BJP. One cant take lightly the picture making rounds on social media, which shows Rajnath Singh and Shivrajsingh Chowhan with Sadhvi Pragya Thakur. One also cant dismiss the fact that Lal Krishna Advani and Sushma Swaraj had gone to see the prime minister to plead the case of Pragya Singh Thakur in particular. One cant ignore that those running these training camps had or were associated with RSS in some way, actively at that time or in the past.

So all this protests and threats of BJP, threats to disrupt the session of Parliament are their usual political tactics and do not have any meaning, as their indirect or direct association with the terrorists is so much obvious. What Shinde is stating is factual but terminology is confused, and thats not due to his own fault. We as a society have not been able to come to coin correct terminologies for different acts of terror anyway, so why get away with using the word Jehadi terrorism and haul Mr. Shinde to the coals for such a use of the term.?

The Unworthy Legacy of Bal Thackeray

By Saeed Qureshi

Bal Thackeray the founder of the Shiv Sena( army) has dies at the age of 86.His legacy that he bequeathed is parochialism and hatred for all other races except Marathis for whom he founded in 1966, this cult type outfit in the state of Maharashtra. Viewed in the murky light of his political philosophy he stands out as the antagonist of the Indian constitution that essentially is secular and shuns sectarianism, communalism, racial discords and ethnic divisions.

Thackeray was known as a symbol of violence, terrorism and fear for other ethnic groups in Bombay and elsewhere in Maharashtra that were periodically targeted by ferocious and murderous gangs of Shiv Sena. He was a fanatic Hindu of typical brand and had spun a spiritual aura around his mysterious personality.

He was revered by his followers as a kind of deity with esoteric powers. As a fiery speaker in his own right and with a complexion of Hindu Sadhu or pundit (monk) he would inspire his devotees to faithfully follow his commands no matter how perilous and fatal those were for the rest of the community.

Such was the tight hold of Thackeray on the affiliates and members of the Sena that they would not hesitate or think twice to rampage and even spill blood of the victims. Although Thackeray never held any office, yet in due course he had gathered so enormous a clout that he would dictate his demands to the government functionaries in the state by telephone calls and they would readily oblige.

As the head of a fanatic militant party, Bal Thackeray became the Godfather or the monarch of Bombay, an Indian metropolis that excels in business and bollywood galore and is the hub of a fast paced varied social life. He was also dreaded by the state government as he could spill disaster on the spur of the moment by a simple call.

He was never indicted against a long list of criminal activities that for others could be an ensured passage to jail if not to gallows. Since he stood for and represented only one minority in the Indian federation, otherwise dotted with innumerable religious and social factions; his philosophy and creed was entirely narrow and biased. He was brazen in his opposition to the other ethnic communities living in Maharashtra whom he would dub as outsiders and would want them to be pushed out of that state.

In order to establish the supremacy of the Marathis in jobs, business and social status, his slogan was that only Marathis [residents of Maharashtra] have the first right over Mumbai,” From the springboard of Shiv Sena, he launched a vigorous movement against the South Indian migrants (from Bihar), the Gujaratis, Marwaris and the religious minorities particularly the Muslims to force them to leave the Maharashtra state. It was also aimed at halting the spread of Islam in India. Precisely for this reason Thackeray asked the Sena cadres in 2002 to respond to Islamist suicide bombers by becoming suicide bombers themselves.

His deep aversion and acute hatred for non Marathis led to their harrowing massacres, loot and plunder of non Marathis by Shiva Sena brigands for decades. During 1960s and 70s a prolonged reign of terror and harassment was let loose against the South Indians by the bandits of Shiv Sena who vandalized the shops, businesses, restaurants and homes of the former.

In 2008, the Biharis were brutally targeted by Shiv Sena hoodlums after Thackeray labeled them as infiltrators and outsiders. Most of these outsiders earned their living as taxi drivers, selling milk and newspapers. They were intimidated, beaten intermittently and forced to leave Bombay and other cities in the Maharashtra state. It was a kind of ethnic cleansing by violent means to make the Marathis as the majority race in his state.

From 1984 onward Shiv Sena carried out attacks on Dalit farmers in Vidarbha and Marathwada, destroying their crops and burning their huts. Shiv Sena also killed many unyielding politicians, journalists, community activists and notable individuals, whose names are available in the history books.

In 1992, The horrendous riots broke out between Hindus and Muslims after the demolition of the Babri mosque by fanatic Hindus with Shiv Sena militants in the lead. In those deadly riots during which the Shiv Sena cadres played dominant role, 900 people died in Bombay. More than 2,000 people were killed in ensuing riots in many major cities of India.

The Shiv Sena is already going through a process of disintegration and fragmentation. It is already divided into two parts. Although his son Uddhav has taken over the reins of Shiv Sina yet he cannot be a match to his fathers charisma and commitment in leading the party on chauvinistic tracks.

After Thackeray appointed his son as his successor in 2006, his nephew Raj Thackeray separated from the Shiv Sena and formed his faction naming it Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Earlier many colleagues of Thackeray also left the party due to differences on the rigid and racial policies of the boss.

One may safely predict that under the changing times, it would be utterly difficult for the Shiv Sena to continue the legacy of violence and terrorism against the minorities in order to give ascendancy to Marathis or to browbeat the Muslims.

A great deal of homogeneity and mutual understanding is developing among the diverse religious and ethnic sections in India. The creed of ethnic hatred and militancy as propounded by Shiv Sena seems to have run out its course. Shiv Sina is a spent force and cannot maintain or revive it creed of terrorism and violence anymore.

Obama to Chain Asian Watchdog (India)

India today is trying to blindly follow the policies of her military Guru Chankiya, where she is frantically driving for fulfillment of her eventual trance of Greater India and emergence of a sole regional power of South East Asia. India has long-standing policies and strategies to make and keep Pakistan as a lame duck and now taking advantage of the current situation she wants to destabilize a sole nuke Muslim power. Perception is there that India in collaborations with USA and Israel is imposing pressure and polices on Pakistan. Manomohan Singh is visiting USA now. Thus, Obama if serious in fighting war against terror has to chain his Asian watchdog (India). He should askIndian Prime Minister to stop interfering in Pakistan’s domestic affairs.
