Supporters of Baloch Separatists in London

By Sajjad Shaukat

Continued subversive acts in the province of Balochistan, arranged by the anti-Pakistan forces coincide with malicious propaganda against the country and its security agencies.

In this regard, the main aim of India, US and Israel is to internationalise the Balochistan issue in accordance with their secret agenda. In this respect, in connivance with the Baloch separatist leaders who have taken refuge in Swizerland, Sweden, US, London and some other western countries, external hostile elements use media, various NGOs and human rights organisations for false propaganda against Pak Army and countrys Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) including Frontier Corps (FC) in relation to the extrajudicial killings and disappeared persons. As part of their campaign, secret agencies like Indian RAW, American CIA and Israeli Mosssad which are well-penetrated in these foreign entities also arrange demonstrations and protests abroad to distort Pakistans image.

Besides rallies in some western countries, in 2012, a demonstration was held outside the United Nations in Genva on the occasion of the 19th Session of UN Human Rights Council to condemn the human rights violations in Balochistan. The demonstrators accused Pakistans security and intelligence agencies of extrajudicial killings. Apparently, the demonstration was organised and led by Mehran Baloch, Balochistans representative at the UN and Noordin Mengal, but, in fact, it was arranged by the anti-Pakistan NGOs, human rights groups and Indo-Israeli lobbies with American covert help.

For these sinister aims, London has become hub of anti-Balochistan collusion and activities, where the self-exiled leaders of separatist Baloch groups have been living in highly expensive flat. Sources suggest that they have been found to be holding secret meetings with the Indian diplomats. These Baloch separatist leaders have very costly vehicles and regularly visit US, Dubai and Oman. They get anti-Pakistan propaganda material printed in London and use different channels to distribute it in various parts of Balochistan. They obtain tickets for their frequent foreign visits from an Indian travel agent in London, who reportedly receives payments from the Indian High Commission. Indirectly, Indian RAW sends money for all their financial expenses.

However, on July 31, 2011, with the assistance of external elements, a rally was organised by Baloch Human Rights Council in UK, in front of the US Embassy in London, which raised false accusations such as inhuman torture and extrajudicial murder of the Baloch intellectuals by the Pakistani security agencies, while blaming ISI for the disapeared persons.

On August 3, 2011, the former ISPR spokesman, Maj-Gen Athar Abbas, while rejecting human rights groups reports about Balochistan as a conspiracy against Pakistan, called for probing the funding of these organisations as this could be traced back to those forces which want to destabilise Pakistan.

Meanwhile, again, Baloch activists staged a demonstration in London in front of US Embassy on March 4, 2012 to express their gratitude to three American Congressmen, Dana Rohrabacher, Louie Gohmert and Steve King who tabled a bill before the US Congress in February, calling for the right of self-determination for Balochistan, while raising similar allegations against Pakistans security institutes. American government distanced itself from these Congressmen, but the move had clandestine support of some US officials. The resolution has encouraged Baloch separatist groups who are now actively lobbying the lawmakers of the European Parliament for a similar move.

Now, it has become usual practice in London. And under the leadership of Hyrbyair Marri, and especially with Indian support including other external elements, anti-state Baloch militant groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), Balochistan Republican Army (BRA), and other similar outfits will launch a protest demonstration against Pakistan on March 30, 2013 at 10 Downing Street, London. But this time, as part of propaganda, the scheme intends to draw maximum attention of the international media to allegedly show that Pakistani state atrocities in Balochistan continue unabated, and Islamabad has occupied Balochistan. The protest rally will move from the Pakistani Embassy to the 10 Downing Street. New Delhi has secretly instructed to the Indians to participate in the rally along with anti-Pakistan banners and placards. The protesters will again blame our countrys security agencies for the missing persons, dumped dead bodies, extrajudicial killings etc. in Balochistan.

Recently, Supreme Court, federal and provincial governments have been taking serious notice of the aggravated law and order situation of Balochistan, particularly with reference to the disappeared people. In this backdrop, question arises as to why situation of Balochistan is deteriorating, and where are the missing persons of the province?

The facts behind human rights violations such as extrajudicial killings, dumped bodies, the missing persons and aggravated law and order situation of the province is that militant groups like BLA, BLF, BRA and Jundollah (Gods soldiers) which have been fighting for secession of Balochistan gets arms and ammunition from CIA and RAW. Their militants kidnapped and massacred many innocent people who include teachers, professors, lawyers, Shias and the security personnel in the province. Many persons in Balochistan have also been killed in suicide attacks and bomb blasts, planted by these foreign-backed outfits. On a number of occasions, these insurgents groups claimed responsibility for their criminal activities. In the past few years, they kidnapped and killed many Chinese and Iranian nationals in Pakistan. Besides targeting Punjabis and other ethnic minorities in the province, they also arranged subversive acts in the Iranian Sistan-Baluchistan. In this respect, Tehran had directly named CIA for funding of terrorist attacks.

A majority of the disappeared individuals are also in the detention centres (Farrari Camps) which are being run by Baloch feudal lords (Sardars). With the assistance of US-led India and Israel, these Sardars are fighting for their so-called prestige, status and influence, and want to continue old system of feudalism in the province.

It is mentionable that Pakistans civil and military leadership has repeatedly disclosed that militants along with huge cache of arms are being sent to Balochistan from Afghanistan. In the recent past, Rehman Malik pointed out that during his trip to Afghanistan, he emphasised upon President Hamid Karzai to close Baloch training camps. In that background, Brahmdagh Bugti and some other Baloch so-called nationalists left Afghanistan and went to some western countries. In his latest statement, Rehman Malik revealed that there are links among BLA, Jundollah, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan which have been weakening Pakistan and Balochistan.

Especially, on July 23, 2008, Brahmdagh Bugti told the BBC that they had the right to accept foreign aid and arms from anywhere including India. During the above mentioned session of the UN in Geneva, Baloch so-called leaders Mehran Baloch, Dr Allah Nazar Baloch and Hyrbyair Marri, while interacting with foreign media and addressing meetings stated that for the independence of Balochistan, they would also welcome help from India. Like Americans, they also opposed Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project. Notably, by rejecting US growing pressure and defying the threat of sanctions, on March 11, this year, Pakistans President Asif Ali Zardari inaugurated the gas pipeline project with Iran.

Particularly, Balochistans mineral resources and geo-strategic location with deep Gwadar seaport, connecting rest of the world with Central Asia have further irked the eyes of the US and India because China has already invested billion of dollars to develop this seaport. It is due to multiple strategic designs that the US which signed a nuclear deal with India in 2008 seeks to dismember both Pakistan and Iran. In this connection, foreign supporters of Baloch separatists have accelerated acts of sabotage in the province through their affiliated-militants, as recently Pakistan has handed over the control of Gwader seaport to China. Therefore, propaganda campaign against Islamabad has also been intensified by the external entities. In this context, nefarious arrangements for the pre-planned rally which will be executed on March 30, 2013, is being made on larger scale by anti-Pakistan forces, especially India.

Nonetheless, in response to the Baloch separtists protest, the best way is that patriot Pakistanis; living in London must arrange a similar rally on the same day with pro-Pakistan cards, banners and national flags so as to display to the media that we are all united to castigate the foreign conspiracy against Balochistan.

It is notable that a Gallup survey of the UK official body, DFID, conducted on July 20, 2012, disclosed that the vast majority of the Baloch people oppose the idea of an independent Balochistan. This survey has proved that some external entities have been conducting subversive acts in the province by supporting the minority elements, and are inciting the other Bloch persons for independence of Balochistan.

3 Indian soldiers injured in fighting with Mujahadeen

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), at least three Indian army soldiers are critically injured in a fight with Mujahadeen e Kashmir in Srinagar district.

The Mujahadeen conducted an attack on Indian army in Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday morning, officials said.

They said the injured personnel were rushed to the hospital and search operations have been launched against Mujahadeen e Kashmir.

India is occupying OSJK since 66 years through use of its military. The Kashmiri never accepted Indian occupation and since then, struggling for the right of self-determination.

Kashmir is an un-resolved part of dividing Hindustan into India and Pakistan. The people of Kashmir want to join Pakistan while India is trying to force them to become part India using its armed forces.

Hundreds of thousands of innocent Kashmiris are killed by Indian army so far, while 10s of thousands of Kashmiri women were raped by the same Indian army.

Former military leaders express anguish, sorrow over Joseph Colony incident

Rawalpindi, MTT News Desk: The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association (PESA) on Friday expressed deep anguish and sorrow at the inhuman destruction of Joseph Colony at Lahore terming it lowest form of governance.

This was observed in a special meeting of the Executive Council of PESA held to discuss some of the serious issues that are vital to integrity and sovereignty of the country.

The meeting observed that Joseph Colony attack was a repeat of Gojra carnage with a difference that no life was lost this time.

Mass killings of Hazaras amount to ethnic genocide, the former military leaders said, adding that inaction against the culprits and cash awards to the affected people cannot wash the humiliation caused to Pakistan in the international community.

Religious leaders should spread the principles of human values, equality and freedom that are most cherished by Islam. Objectives Resolution also guarantees that fundamental right and the principles of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice, as enunciated by Islam shall be fully observed and any violation must be dealt with a firm hand, they opined.

PESA members appreciated the independence and courage shown by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in going ahead with preparation of revised nomination papers despite non-approval by the President.

They lauded the prompt support extended by the Supreme Court. However real test of the ECP will be implementation of the conditions prescribed under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution. Real change can only come when individuals with tainted past are weeded out right from the start, the former military strategists said.

PESA office bearers expressed concern over the on-going Anti-Army campaign through some selected electronic and print media. Its sole purpose is to destroy integrity and strength of the force that is engaged in defending countrys geographical and ideological frontiers and the national values.

Thousands of officers and soldiers have sacrificed their lives in fighting the extremist elements who want to enforce their own version of Islam. It is a matter of great satisfaction that despite this anti-Army campaign, the masses retain their total faith in the Armed Forces and look up to them as true defenders of the Republic.

The PESA members expressed surprise at policies of some of the TV channels, who spare no occasion to blame past military rulers for all the problems but at the same time they are giving almost daily coverage to political ambitions and programme of General Musharraf.

Musharraf flagrantly violated the Constitution, brought ignominy through misadventures like Kargil, Lal Masjid and tragedies of Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto and Sardar Akbar Bugti.

His unconditional submission to USA on just one phone call brought the war on terror inside Pakistan. On the economic front, through his inaction over building the Neelum Dam he has caused threat of perpetual loss of Jhelum River to Pakistan which could render Punjab into a desert, they said.

As a citizen of Pakistan, Musharraf should be free to return home but at the same time he should face the cases that are registered against him.

It was decided to hold a news conference to details about the conspiracies and plans of certain powers to not just destabilize but also break up Pakistan as one nation.

India crossed all limits of cruelty, Says Geelani

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that India and its puppet authorities in OSJK have crossed all limits of cruelty in Kashmir by resorting to killings, frequent arrests, use of pepper gas and ransacking of residential houses.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is under house arrest in Srinagar after his arrival from New Delhi on Thursday, in a media interview via phone said that arrests, curfews and restrictions could not weaken the Kashmiris resolve for their fight against Indian repression.

The battle we are fighting is between truth and injustice. History is testimony to the fact that truth has always prevailed. I am sure victory will be ours, the APHC Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani said.

Geelani aid that Kashmir is witnessing the fallout of the secret hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru that a youth from Pulwama was murdered at Hyderabad in India and another youth was killed in cold blood in Baramulla town.

He said, Everybody is aware of the treatment meted out to me in New Delhi. I was put under house arrest for 19 days. Such were the restrictions on me that policemen stayed inside my room for 32 hours.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that Indian army is not only on the killing spree in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK) but also arresting minors and even ransacking the public property.

Geelani said that the blood of martyrs would not be allowed to go waste.

The Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH) spokesman, Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ganai, in a media interview said that Indian armed forces have arrested Kashmiri youth and an aged man Muhammad Yasin Malik for raising pro-freedom slogans on the arrival of Syed Ali Shah Geelani at the Srinagar airport. He strongly condemned the arrests and the highhandedness of police.

In the meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL) and the Jamaat e Islami of Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK) have said that the Indian government and its puppet authorities are suppressing the people of Kashmir through use of brute force.

The DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Kashmiris demand for return of mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru from New Delhis Tihar Jail to the territory was gaining momentum with every passing day but the authorities were trying to suppress the legitimate and democratic demand of people by dint of force.

The JKPFL spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the killing of a youth, Tahir Ahmad Sofi, in Baramulla by Indian troops with indiscriminate firing and arrest of students by the Indian police. He said that such tactics could not demoralize the people of Kashmir and they would continue their struggle for securing their right to self-determination till complete success.

He appealed to the international human rights organisations to impress upon India to stop its state terrorism in the Occupied Kashmir, OSJK. He also urged the United Nations to take serious and solid steps for peaceful settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

The Jamaat e Islami of OSJK in its statement strongly denounced the arrest spree started by the Indian authorities in OSJK. It said that hundreds of innocent people mostly youth had been apprehended and they were being subjected to physical torture in various police stations and interrogation centre.

The Jamaat also condemned the house arrest of the Chairman of APHC, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on his return from New Delhi. It said that all these actions were anti-democratic and symbol of autocracy. It demanded an immediate halt to Indian state terrorism in the territory.

India’s Avaricious Eyes on Thar Coal Project

By Sajjad Shaukat

In the recent past, by showing a sense of great optimism for the peace of the region, Pakistan agreed with Indian old demand to strengthen the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) in order to resolve the outstanding issues such as terrorism, Siachen, Sir Creek, Wullar Barrage and water including main dispute of Kashmir.

As part of the CBMs, under the Aman Ki Asha initiative, recently renowned Pakistani and Indian media anchors, retired high civil and military officials including film stars have participated in various gatherings in both the countries to create favourable atmosphere for the peace process, and to discuss practical solution to the bilateral issues.

During the visit of Indias External Affairs Minister S M Krishna to Pakistan on September 9, 2012, Islamabad and New Delhi also signed agreements of liberalised visa regime and a memorandum of understanding on cultural exchanges in addition to agreeing on new cross-Line of Control (LoC) Confidence Building Measures related to trade and travel. Although Pakistan was already importing vegetables from India through Wagah border, yet implementation of these new agreements has started. Besides, Islamabad also signed a number of trade agreements with New Delhi, which allowed India exports of mutltiple items across the Wagah border. It is also likely to grant India Most Favoured Nation status, which permits trade in almost everything.

In fact, trade between both the neighbouring countries is more beneficial to Indian largest economy than Pakistan. While using delaying tactics for the settlement of real issues, India has been availing the opportunity of CBMs to get maximum economic advantage from Pakistan. In these terms, Indian greed for materialistic gains is unlimited.

In this regard, a recent report disclosed that the management of Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC), a subsidiary of Engro Group was engaged in feasibility study of the coal mining in Thar. Regrettably, our media did not take the notice that the company is also considering to sell Pakistani coal to India for latters projects in Tamil Nadu, Gujrat and Naveli, which is a cause of concern for all Pakistanis.

Some online reliable sources suggest that Indian Embassy Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Arvind Saxena who is Raw Station Chief at Islamabad is making strenuous efforts for striking deal between SECMC and Indian-based companies, Tethyan Copper Company Pvt Limited (TCC) and Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL). In this connection, Arvind Saxsena arranged different visits of SECMC officials to India.

However, in July 2012, a parliamentary trade delegation of Pakistan which also included daughter of chief minister Sindh, Nafisa Shah, visited New Delhi and discussed the feasibility and possibility of cooperation on Thar Coal Project. For the purpose, Dr Mahesh Malani, (MNA) close associate of Pakistans President Asif Ali Zardari also visited New Delhi. Earlier, Indian delegation of five persons also visited Lahore and Karachi and held meetings with Pakistani concerned businessmen.
It is notable that the management of SECMC admitted that it is in consultation with the Indian companies TATA Power and BHEL for technology transfers to conduct open cast mining of Thar coal.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that corrupt political and business mafia, backed by the US and India is secretly involved in this multibillion dollars project, while main players allegedly include co-chairman of a political party and some officials of Pakistan.

On the other hand, Pakistans experts are of the view that Thar Coal Project should preferably be developed under the administration and technical consultation of Major General (r) Pervez Akmal, Corps of Engineers, who is already working to develop an institutional model for Thar coal. And services of Dr Shahid Muneer who is Director of Center for Coal Technology at the University of Punjab should also be got for the project.

It is estimated that the Thar coal field of Sindh has reserves of 175 billion tons which are 70 times higher than Pakistans total gas reserves. It is due to this reason that Australian and German investors also desire to invest in Thar Coal Project. In this context, in 2012, while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Womens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), Australian Ambassador to Pakistan Peter Heyward said that Australia is interested in Thar coal development because key Australian mining and oil and gas companies have keenly been watching these developments in Pakistan.

This is worth-mentioning that representatives of Sindh Coal Authority, project coordinator Engro, Oracle Coalfield UK, and coal gasification project gave presentation to the committee on the progress of their projects. But Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, the pioneer of the project did not participate in the meeting. The best way is that both federal and Sindh governments should provide the committed share of the allocated funds for these projects. Dr. Mubarakmand has already revealed that coal reserves are also available in powder form under waterPakistan could produce 50,000 megawatt electricity and 100 million barrel diesel just through the gasification of these reserves.

Reportedly, in 1992, the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) discovered huge sub-surface deposits of coal, the second largest in the world as located in Tharparkar District of Sindh.

Notably, a press report of January 8, 2013 pointed out that the Thar Coal Project which has high potential to change the energy landscape of Pakistan continues to move slowly. It must be developed by countrys technical experts and economic managers who should ensure that vested interests do not participate in developing the project.

At present, Pakistans power generation capacity stands at 14,000MW, while the country will require 26,000MW by 2020, out of which around 10,000MW could be produced from Thar coal. So, the main aim of developing Thar Coal Project is to provide affordable and sustainable electricity to consumers using domestic resources. Reliance on indigenous fuel is likely to save billions of dollars in foreign exchange, which are currently being spent on import of expensive RFO (Refined Furnace Oil).
Now, the dilemma is that Thar Coal Project needs investment of about 3 billion dollars for infrastructure and development. But, instead of relying on local funds, rulers seek to give contract to alien powers which are working against the national interest of Pakistan.

It is fortune of Pakistan that it has huge natural and minerals resources. In case of proper exploration and utilisation of these resources, Pakistan can not only become a self-reliant country, but can also get rid of dependency on other hostile countries. No doubt, faulty decisions of the incompetent governments, fragile economy and lack of modern technology brought the country to the present multiple crises. Particularly, Islamabad must also get the help of China to develop the Thar Coal Project, as the Chinese companies are already working at various projects in the country.

Especially, Pakistans media should expose the designs of internal and external entities which intend to provide opportunities to the anti-Pakistan foreign investors regarding Thar coal. Media commentators should also emphasise that in coordination with its close friend China, the countrys reliance on its own talent and resources is necessary for the development of this project.

It is of particular attention that by taking note of the foreign plotters regarding Balochistans Reko-Diq gold and copper mining project, the Supreme Court of Pakistan gave its verdict on January 7, 2013 declaring the agreement signed in this respect on July 23, 1993 as void and in conflict with the laws of the country.

Similarly, Supreme Court should also take notice of the Thar Coal Project, while the Punjab Forum (PF) has requested the apex court in this respect. In this context, President of the Punjab Forum, Baig Raj stated, Supreme Court should immediately take notice of the situation and initiate action against lobbies which are working to advance the agenda of foreign powers and multinational oil companies.

Nonetheless, under the cover of CBMs, India which has rapidly been promoting its trade with Pakistan has avaricious eyes on the Thar Coal Project.

Tension in nuclear powers of South Asia

By Zaheerul Hassan

On 16 January 2012, Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India established contact with each other on hotline and decided to tone down the tension between the deployed troops on Line of Communication (LoC). Meanwhile Hina Rabbani Kher, Foreign Minister of Pakistan has also spoken to her Indian counterpart to play his positive role for reduction of tension on Kashmir front. There have been three deliberate violations by Indian troops within the five days, which has given a waft to the ceasefire of 2003 along the 740 Km LoC.

In fact, concerning aspect of increasing hostility is that, if not tamed then it might lead to global disaster since both the states are holding more than 100 nuclear arsenals each. Moreover, they have also fought four major and minor wars. Similar kind of concern has also been shown by the world community and super powers. On 17 January U.S. foreign office and its ambassador at Islamabad also emphasised that India and Pakistan should avoid border confrontation and resolve the issues bilaterally. Now question arises that whether the establishment of peace between India and Pakistan will be possible without resolving the real bone of contention i.e. Kashmir.

Past history reveals that New Delhi has been stressing to strengthen the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) with Islamabad to normalise the relations between two capitals, but she always shown reluctance in discussing the Kashmir and water problems as major issues between two capitals. She has never given any positive signal of taking a step forward for settling the Kashmir conflict rather preferred to put it aside on the name of continuation of peace process. .

Anyhow, the recent tension escalated when Indian soldiers crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on January 6, this year and attacked a Pakistani check post in Haji Pir setor, killing one Pakistani soldier and injuring many troops. Besides, Indian troops shot dead another Pakistani soldier at Hotspring on the LoC on January 10.

On 16 January, Indian troops again resorted to cease fire violation and carried out unprovoked firing last evening at Line of Control in Hot Spring and Jandrot sectors from 2200 to 2300 Hours. Resultantly Naik Ashraf embraced Shahadat at Kundi Post. It may be mentioned that Naik Ashraf is survived by a wife and three daughters. He was the fifth soldier reported killed in Kashmir in recent weeks but politicians on both sides have said the skirmishes should not derail a bilateral peace process.

In this respect, the Pakistani Foreign Office summoned the Indian High Commissioner and lodged a strong protest on the repeated, unacceptable and unprovoked attacks on Pakistani soldiers by the Indian army. The Pakistani foreign secretary reiterated the offer to hold an independent inquiry through the UN Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). However, India has rejected Pakistani offer of independent investigation through third party. Her Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne stated on January 12 in threatening tone that India will be forced to consider other options, if ceasefire violations continue from the Pakistan side across the LoC.

In the same context, on January 14, Indian Army Chief General Bikram Singh threatened to hit back Pakistan for the alleged killing of two soldiers in fighting near the border of the disputed region of Kashmir, saying he had asked his commanders there to be aggressive in the face of provocation.

On the same day, senior leader Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh asked the Manmohan Singh-led government to stop all dialogue and CBMs with Pakistan due to the brutal beheadings of Indian soldiers and recall its High Commissioner in Islamabad in wake of entire nation being angry over the alleged ceasefire violations. Moreover, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also demonstrated unjustified annoyance towards Pakistan at different forums while discussing the ongoing violations at LoC.

It is also added here that as anger in India continues to rise, Pakistani singers have canceled concerts in Delhi and Mumbai, Pakistani field hockey players scheduled to participate in a private league have been sent back to the country and a question mark looms over the participation of the Pakistani women’s cricket team in a tournament in India later this month. Delhi has also postponed implementation of the decision of easing the visa restrictions on elderly citizens.

While in order to justify its open belligerence; India concocted a story of accusing Pakistan of killing and beheading its two soldiers. In this regard the Former President and General retired Pervez Mushrraf while giving an interview to Indian channel rejected Indian allegations and categorically said that Pakistani Army cannot carry out such a ruthless act of brutality since the army is a disciplined force and cannot act like an African Army. He also stressed that Indian media is in the habit of crafting groundless stories against Pakistan He very rightly said that Pakistan has the capability to give prompt and timely response against any sort of aggressions.

Pakistans civil and army spokesmen have too denied Indian baseless allegations. In short, Indian top officials, the opposition party and media have repeatedly been launching a blame game to distort the image of Pak Army and Pakistan. In the meantime, while referring to the recent breakthroughs in bilateral ties Hina Rabbani Khar has pointed out in wake of Indian propaganda that she did not see the recent violations of the LoC ceasefire derailing or setting back the peace process with India, explaining that the government and people of Pakistan were committed to normalising relations with India including steps to normalise trade relations and a new visa agreement.

Whereas, Indias reaction remained only to make noises with the assistance of its media to foment poisonous propaganda so as to show to the world that Pak Army is involved in violations along the disputed border of Kashmir, and Pakistan intends to derail the CBMs.

Regrettably, our media anchors are so engaged in manipulating other controversial issues that the incident of indiscriminate firing on Pakistani soldiers at LoC could hardly get any coverage on our media. Countries media commentators have totally failed in countering Indian propaganda campaign in this respect.

In fact, Indian setting aside of peaceful negotiations under the title of composite dialogues clearly indicate that Delhi is not serious in settling down the issues like spreading of terrorism in Balochistan, Siachen, Wullar Barrage, water , Kashmir and Sir Creek. Notably, the said issues were touched upon in length between Indias External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and Pakistans Foreign Minister Khar on September 2012. Sir Creek which sits in the Rann of Kutch marshlands is the 96 km narrow piece of water between Indias Gujarat state and Pakistans Sindh province is sovereign part of Pakistans territory.

The current Indian unprovoked firing on LoC should also be seen in the light of her covert design against Pakistan. It would not be wrong in saying that India has accelerated covert war because adverse security environment in the region. She is exploiting and fueling the foreign sponsored militancy in Balochistan, Karachi and other parts of Pakistan.

Concluding, I would say that India has adopted an inflexible and dubious approach in resolving the issues with the regional and neighbouting countries. Now it is the time that Pakistan should ask India to resolve the issue of Kashmir on priority. In this context, world community and the global powers should realise that Kashmir is a flash point and real bone of contentions between two countries. Not resolving of Kashmir issue can triggered anytime and lead us to another global nuclear war. Thus the issue of Kashmir be settled through negotiation and mediation immediately so that tension between two South Asian countries be diminished permanently.

Indian dubious approach

By Sajjad Shaukat

On the one hand, India has been emphasising to strengthen the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) with Pakistan to normalise relations between both the countries, but on the other, it has continuously been giving a greater setback to the CBMs in one or the other way, which shows Indian dubious approach.

In this regard, Indian soldiers crossed over the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on January 6, this year and attacked a Pakistani check post in Haji Pir sector, killing one Pakistani soldier and injuring many troops. Besides, Indian troops shot dead two Pakistani soldiers at Hotspring on the LoC on January 10 and 15.

In this respect, the Pakistani Foreign Office summoned the Indian High Commissioner and lodged a strong protest on the repeated and unprovoked attacks on Pakistani soldiers. The Pakistani foreign secretary also asked India to thoroughly investigate the repeated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian troops, reiterating the offer to hold an independent inquiry through the United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), which India flatly refused.

There have been three blatant violations by Indian troops in five days, which have given a blow to the ceasefire of 2003 along the LoC.

While in order to justify its open aggression, India concocted a fabricated story of accusing Pakistan of killing and beheading its two soldiers in the same area of the LoC. Despite the fact that Pakistans civil and army spokesmen have denied Indian baseless allegations of beheading its two soldiers, Indian top officials, the opposition party and media have perennially been launching a blame game to distort the image of Pak Army and Pakistan.

In this context, Indian Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne stated on January 12 in threatening tone that India will be forced to consider other options, if ceasefire violations continue from the Pakistan side across the Line of Control. On the same day, senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh asked the Manmohan Singh-led government to stop all dialogue and confidence-building measures with Pakistan due to the alleged brutal beheadings of Indian soldiers and recall its High Commissioner to Islamabad over the alleged ceasefire violations.

On January 14, Indian Army Chief General Bikram Singh also threatened to retaliate against Pakistan for the alleged killing of two soldiers in fighting near the disputed border of Kashmir, saying, he had asked his commanders there to be aggressive in the face of provocation. Earlier, Indias external affairs ministry had summoned Pakistan high commissioner Salman Bashir to protest the killing of the two Indian soldiers.

Even Indian Prime Minister Singh allegedly said on January 15 that there could be no business as usual with Pakistan after a clash along the LoC in Kashmir in which two Indian soldiers were killed and their bodies mutilated.

However, ISPR spokesman stated that Pakistan has lodged a strong protest during a flag meeting between Pakistani and Indian military officials on continuous ceasefire violations including attempted raid by Indian troops on the LoC in which two Pakistani soldiers were martyred.

Meanwhile, while referring to the recent breakthrough in bilateral ties Pakistans Foreign Affairs Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has pointed out in wake of Indian propaganda that she did not see the recent violations of the LoC ceasefire derailing or setting back the peace process with India, explaining that the government and people of Pakistan were committed to normalising relations with India.

Notably, Indian conflicting reports of Indian media and rulers have exposed New Delhis self-created story. In this context, some say that one Indian soldier was decapitated, while some reveal the beheading of two soldiers.

India is making noise with the assistance of its media to accelerate its venomous propaganda so as to show to the world that Pak Army is involved in violations along the disputed border of Kashmir, and Pakistan intends to derail the CMBs.

Regrettably, our media is so engaged in manipulating internal controversial issues that the incident of indiscriminate firing on Pakistani soldiers at LoC could hardly get any coverage. Countrys media commentators have totally failed in countering Indian propaganda campaign in this respect.

In fact, India is emphasising more on CBMs than to pay attention for the settlement of real issues. Notably, regarding the visit of Indias External Affairs Minister S M Krishna to Pakistan on September 9, 2012, Pakistans Foreign Minister Khar stated that with her counterpart Krishna, she discussed all the outstanding issues such as terrorism, Siachen, Sir Creek, Wullar Barrage, water and especially main dispute of Kashmir. Both the countries also signed agreements of liberalised visa regime and a memorandum of understanding on cultural exchanges in addition to agreeing on new cross-Line of Control (LoC) Confidence Building Measures related to trade and travel. Nevertheless, implementation of these agreements has started. In this context, Islamabad also signed a number of trade agreemens with New Delhi, which allowed India exports of mutltiple items across the Wagah border. It is also likely to grant India Most Favoured Nation status, which permits trade in almost everything. But like Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during his trip, S M Krishna had warned that in case of Mumbai-like incident; relations between the two countries could lapse.

As part of the CBMs, under the Aman Ki Asha initiative, recently renowned Pakistani and Indian media anchors, retired high civil and military officials including film stars have participated in various seminars and gatherings in both the countries to create favourable atmosphere to intensify the peace process, and to discuss practical solutions to the bilateral issues.

By setting aside the CBMs, recently, India decided to erect a floating fence, anchored by submerged metallic meshes, along the disputed Sir Creek border area with Pakistan. Sir Creek which sits in the Rann of Kutch marshlands is the 96 km narrow piece of water between Indias Gujarat state and Pakistans Sindh province is sovereign part of Pakistans territory.

It is due to New Delhis duplicity with Islamabad that Indian rulers availed various crises to suspend the process of Pak-India talks. For example, in 2002, under the pretension of terrorist attack on the Indian parliament, New Delhi postponed the process of dialogue. Again, in 2008, India suspended the composite dialogue under the pretext of Mumbai terror attacks which were in fact, arranged by its secret agency RAW in connivance with Indian home-grown terrorists.

India and Pakistan had resumed the new phase of talks in March, 2009 which were the first structured bilateral talks. But every time, prime ministers and foreign ministers of the two countries ended their meetings with issuance of positive notes, and vowed that their parleys would pave the way for the settlement of real issues, particularly the core dispute of Kashmir, but the same failed without producing tangible results due to Indian double game.

It is mentionable that Indian adamant stand regarding Pak-India parleys are not without some sinister designs. In this regard, India is determined to keep its hold on Kashmir which is considered by it as integrated part of the Indian union. It also wants to blackmail Pakistan by stopping the flow of rivers water towards Pakistan as major rivers of our country take origin from the occupied Kashmir. India is only fulfilling the formality through the new phase of talks as Indian rulers also want to show to the US-led western countries that they are willing to settle all the outstanding disputes with Pakistan including Kashmir. And New Delhi wants to continue state terrorism on the innocent Kashmiris who are waging a war of liberation for their legitimate rights as recognised by the UNO.

In these terms, recent violations at the LoC and blatant aggression by killing two Pakistani soldiers in wake of insisting upon CMBs clearly indicate Indian dubious approach.

Jinnah was spiritual guide of Kashmir liberation movement

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Wednesday took notice of Indian Army chiefs statement of warning Pakistan.

In a statement here, Inqilabi said, Pakistan founder M. A. Jinnah is spiritual guide of Kashmir liberation movement.

We consider Jinnahs mausoleum a very sacred place. He was of view that not only Azad Kashmir but entire Pakistan is base camp of Kashmir struggle for right to self-determination. His principle on Kashmir was whether it remains independent or joins Pakistan is to be decided by Kashmiris, he said.

He advised Indian Army chief Gen. Bikram Singh to have a look at history.

In 1965 the then Indian Army chief Gen. Chaudhary had opened front in Lahore border. Soldiers of Field Marshal Ayub Khan retaliated and the battle was fought on Indian soil, he added.

Similarly, Inqilabi said, Indian Army opened another front in 1971 in East-Pakistan.

The result is today combined number of Pakistani and Bangladeshi armed forces is equal to Indian forces. Every conscious Bangladeshi loves the city of Islamabad like a true Muslim loves Makah and Medina, he claimed.

MeA patron said on 26 Feb last year Farooq Abdullahs statement that Afzal Guroo should be hanged was carried by various newspapers.

In order to give him (Abdullah) a psychological rebuff and rebuttal I decided to jot down a will that if I pass away in a situation where Indian army continues to occupy Kashmir two flags will flutter atop my coffin flag of JK Mahaz-e-Azadi and the national flag of Pakistan, he said in the statement.

Quoting Kalhans 1149 AD book Rajtarangni in which he had said Kashmiris may be conquered by the force of spiritual merit but not by armed force, Inqilabi said Indian establishments prefers rule of gun in Kashmir.

He said India termed the killing of its two soldiers at LoC as unpardonable and unacceptable. The same way we consider Indian Armys war crimes in Kashmir as un pardonable.

How can we forget that Indian gun killed six lakh people here. Thousands of women were molested and instead of punishing soldiers they were provided legal immunity through draconian legislations, he said.

Inqilabi warned of serious consequences if India didnt budge from its rigid approach.

Without wasting any further time India should withdraw its forces from Kashmir and allow Kashmiris to decide their fate themselves through referendum, he added.

Security Challenges to Pakistan

By Sajjad Shaukat

Media reported on January 2, this year that while changing professional priorities, Pakistan Army has declared the internal threats such as anti-state terrorist groups as major challenge to the country. In the newly published Green Book, known as Army Doctrine, a new chapter, titled, Sub-conventional Warfare has been added which also mentions about the militant intrusion in Pakistani areas from across the border in Afghanistan, and the new warfare requires public support. However, the Pakistan Army is ready to face all conventional and unconventional security challenges.

Chief of the Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also said on December 29, 2012 that the country was passing through a very critical phase and is pitched against an amorphous enemy, while the conventional threat has also grown manifold. He explained, Increasingly complex external environment and our precarious internal dynamics have created a myriad of security challenges. He added that the present spectrum of threats could be defeated through collective national efforts in which the armed forces had a pivotal role to play in harmony with other state instruments.

Armys new doctrine and Gen. Kayanis statement has come at a time when external enemies have intensified suicide attacks, bomb blasts, targeted-killings, beheadings, assaults on police stations, ethnic and sectarian violence inside the country. Besides the provinces of Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the city of Karachi have become special targets of terrorism which continues unabated.

While, Pakistans security forces have been coping with sporadic battles with the militants in the tribal areas, and are target of surprise assault by the militants. In this regard, around 400 heavily-armed Taliban attacked two security posts outside Peshawar on December 27, last year. They killed 2 soldiers and kidnapped 22 Levies personnel whose dumped bodies were found. In the recent past, these insurgents had beheaded some soldiers through similar act. In Balochistan, several personnel of security agencies have been martyred by the foreign-supported separatists in defending countrys security.

Besides other terror acts, recent assassination of Senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister and the courageous leader of the ANP, Bashir Ahmad Bilour including eight people came like a fresh challenge from the Taliban. And Sectarian violence erupted in different parts of Karachi, killing more than 30 people after a terror attack on a leader of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat and the killing of four men of the group believed to be the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan. While on December 30, 2012, more than 20 pilgrims were killed in a suicide car bomb attack on three buses in Mastung area of Balochistan.

Apart from this perennial wave of sabotage, militants armed with suicide jackets, explosive-material, and automatic weapons attacked the Peshawar Airport on December 15, 2012, Kamra Air Force Base on August 16 same year and Pakistans Naval Airbase in Karachi on May 23, 2011. During all these assaults, after fierce gun battle with the insurgents, Pakistans valiant security forces foiled these terror attempts.
For all these subversive activities, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Jundollah (Gods soldiers), Lashkar-e-Islam and some other militant outfits, especially the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have claimed responsibility.

In fact, secret agencies like American CIA, Indian RAW, Afghan intelligence-National Directorate of Security (NDS) and Israeli Mossad which have well-established their collective network in Afghanistan have been dispatching highly motivated militants and suicide bombers along with sophisticated weapons to attack the security forces of Pakistan and to commit various forms of terror acts. These secret agencies have hired the services of many Muslims who have joined the ranks and files of TTP and other extremist outfits. Pakistans civil and military leadership has repeatedly protested against cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan including TTP location there, but US-led NATO and Afghan top officials have taken no action. Notably, Pakistan is the only nuclear country in the Islamic World; therefore, these entities are determined to denuclearise it.

As regards the conventional threat to Pakistan, US which has signed nuclear deal with India in 2008, has been supplying atomic technology and other modern arms to the latter to counterbalance China. In this respect, Balochistans Gwader seaport where China has invested billions of dollars can link Central Asia with rest of the world. As Sino-Pak strategic partnership irks the eyes of US-led India and Israel, hence, they intend to destabilise Pakistan through their affiliated insurgent groups.

Nevertheless, Pakistan has been facing a different war by coping with faceless enemies like foreign-backed terrorists. Besides collateral damage, more than 40,000 innocent persons and more than 5000 personnel of the security forces have been martyred in this new style war in maintaining the integrity of the federation. On the whole, Pakistan suffered the losses of more than 70 billion dollars due to war against terrorism.

In the past aggression, was openly being made between two sovereign belligerents through the traditional armies. But the arena of aggression has changed. In the present era, non-state actors like terrorists have made it difficult for the military to serve alone as the dominant sphere in every war. Now, different lethal weapons such as suicide attacks, bomb blasts and targeted killings used by the militants coupled with states non-lethal techniques of psychological warfare like propaganda, creation of division among government institutes, politicians, general masses etc. can be more harmful in damaging the interest of a rival country.

In these terms, a number of developments against Pakistan like US double game, pressuring Islamabad to do more against the militants by ignoring the internal backlash, intermittent drone strikes, accusation of cross border terrorism, perennial propaganda against Pak Army, countrys nukes, intelligence agency, ISI, exploitation of the Malala episode, distorting the image of Pakistan as a fundamentalist state etc. clearly show nefarious designs of the US-led India, Israel and some western countries. But it is due to lack of unity among our politicians, security forces and media that foreign opportunists have been manipulating the chaotic situation of Pakistan in order to fulfil their secret aims against the integrity of the country.
It is regrettable that on the one hand, security challenges to Pakistan indicate that it is rapidly advancing towards a failed state, while on the other, our media, particularly most of the TV channels conduct controversial debate between politicians and commentators, contesting internal politics. While speaking in the tone of anti-Pakistan elements, they have been following the external blame game in maligning the countrys security agencies.

Notably, present drastic situation cannot be comprehended by the general masses and even the political leaders who abruptly change their opinion without logic. Therefore, they become unintentional victim of the external plotters who succeed in creating a rift between the political groups, divided on ethnic and linguistic lines. These foreign enemies also seek to create a division between the political leaders and the Army.

Without bothering for Pakistans multiple threats, our political and religious parties have started old game of accusations and counteraccusations, while forming alliances and counter alliances to increase their vote bank in the forthcoming elections. It could be judged from the fact that Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri, the chief of Tehrik-e-Minhaj-ul-Quran (TMQ) and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) who recently returned from Canada has announced a long march to Islamabad for revolutionary changes in political and electoral system. Recently, Dr Tahirul Qadri and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) declared that their pro-revolution supporters would turn Islamabad into Tahrir Square of Pakistan. PML-Q leaders have also responded positively to their call. The ruling party, PPP and opposition party, PML-N have strongly condemned Dr Qadris at this hour when elections are going to be held in the coming months. Unlike Egypt under the ex-president Hosni Mubarak, parliamentary system is smoothly working in Pakistan. Therefore, some political analysts opine that by pursuing the guidelines of some foreign power, TMQ and MQM want to create civil war in the country by dividing the military on one side and general masses on the other.

Undoubtedly, today our nation stands at the crossroads of its destiny, facing multiple challenges to the security of the country. So, it is not armys war only; it is nations war which demands a selfless unity among Pakistans security forces, politicians, media and general masses to castigate the sinister aims of the external and internal enemies.
