Sonia playing down the situation in Kashmir, says Geelani

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: A day after the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi expressed satisfaction over what she said “remarkable progress” made in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that Sonia is deliberately playing down the situation in OSJK to conceal the realities.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a statement in Srinagar said, “The statement of Gandhi (Sonia) is nothing but a crude joke with the people of Kashmir. The drama is enacted with an eye on the next year’s General Elections.”

Sonia has expressed satisfaction over “remarkable progress” made in the territory but emphasised the need to “take note of the cry of pain and anguish” emanating from the people.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, demanded the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

If Congress president is sincere in resolving Kashmir issue then she should accept the demand of the Kashmiris on priority and return the mortal remains to their families,” Geelani said.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is also the President of Jammu & Kashmir Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH), said that since the Congress president herself was a woman she can well understand the pain of a woman who was even not allowed to meet her husband prior to his execution, Geelani referred to the widow of Muhmammad Afzal Guru.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani criticised the Congress for continuation of the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).

MMM Denounces stepped up Indian state terrorism in OSJK

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), Muttahida Majlis e Mushawrat (MMM), has strongly condemned the reign of terror and suppression let loose by India and its puppet authorities in OSJK.

The MMM in a statement issued in Srinagar said, Such repressive measures by India had neither dampened the courage and spirit of people in the past nor will do it in future. It said that the Indian government tried these repressive tactics in 2008, 2009 and 2010, but it could never dampen the freedom sentiment.

The statement pointed out that on one hand, the pro-India politicians were in the forefront of perpetrating all atrocities on people, while one the other, they were shedding crocodile tears in the so-called Kashmir Assembly.

Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat (MMM), is the representative forum of pro-liberation organizations spearheading the campaign of return of the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhis Tihar Jail to Kashmir.

The Grand Mufti of Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), Mufti Bashir-ud-Din, terming the current situation in the territory as extremely grim has said that the government of India has once again set Kashmir on fire.

The Grand Mufti in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the killing of Tahir Rasool Sofi by Indian troops in Baramulla and hanging of research scholar, Mudasir Kamran, in Hyderabad, India, seemed to be connected incidents.

The Government of India continues with its policy of treating Kashmiris as bonded slaves and subjecting them to the worst suppression and repression. Sometimes it plays political gimmicks and sometimes it uses worst repressive measures to realize its interest, he stated.

Mufti Bashir-ud-Din denounced the use of indiscriminate force by Indian police and troops against peaceful protesters and imposition of curfew and restrictions in the occupied Valley. We also condemn smashing doors and windowpanes of houses in different areas of the Valley by the armed forces, he added.

Kashmiris to protest to get Guru remains back.

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Muttahida Majlis e Mashawrat (United Advisory Council) constituted by pro-liberation organisations has issued a five-day protest calendar to seek the mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhis Tihar Jail to Kashmir.

the MMM announced the protest calendar after a meeting in Srinagar attended by the representatives of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) led by the prominent Kashmiri leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Jamaat-e-Islami of OSJK, Kashmir High Court Bar Association and other organisations.

A statement issued by the MMM after the meeting said that there would be a sustained campaign to seek the mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru from Government of India. It urged the people to observe a complete strike on Friday and stage protests after congregational prayers. The Imams of masjids should make people aware of the present situation like the life sentences awarded to people of Kashmir, it added.

As per calendar, lawyers will stage protests on Wednesday and raise slogans like we want freedom and return the remains of martyrs. On Thursday, people of South Kashmir will hold protests at district headquarters of Islamabad, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam, demanding the mortal remains of Butt and Guru during the protests.

On Saturday (March 2), people have been asked to hoist red-ribbons on houses, vehicles and shops. The red ribbons would be a reminder of the blood of thousands of martyrs, the statement said. It urged the people to compensate the Friday strike by normal business on Sunday (March 3).

We request the people of Kashmir to follow the protest calendar religiously, the statement added.

Senior APHC leader and the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Yasmeen Raja, along with a party delegation visited the residences of Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru and a 9th class student, Ubair Ahmad Rather, who was killed by Indian army during protest against Gurus hanging, in Sopore to express solidarity with the bereaved families.

A spokesman for the Muslim Khwateen Markaz in a statement in Srinagar said that Yasmeen Raja denounced Indias fascist tactics to suppress the Kashmiris liberation struggle.

She assured the family members of Muhammad Afzal Guru that a joint strategy would be worked out to press India for return of his body to the occupied territory from New Delhis Tihar Jail.

Muslim Conference delegation visits martyred Ubair Mushtaq’s family

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: Muslim conference spokesman advocate abdul hamid in a press statement has said the party chairman shabir ahmed dar along with his high level delegation visited watergam to show solidarity with the family of Ubair mushtaq who was martyred recently.

Speaking on the occasion Shabir sahib said the kashmiries are offering huge sacrifices to achieve the cherished goal of freedom.

The sacrifices are unparallel and the most precious treasure for us which we have to guard against all odds.

the chain of sacrifices which started with the hanging of shaheed Maqbool bhat to Shaheed Afzal guroo are only for one point programme of complete freedom.

For the attainment of this goal we need sincere pro freedom &fearless leadership.

We have keep a watchful eye on those who create confusion & doubt in the rank & file of pro freedom parties instead the priority should be to purify freedom movement from such anti movement elements.

We have to devise a policy to get people on roads instead restricting the movement of people.

We have to create (TAHRIR SQUARE) TAHRIR CHOWK in every city & town to attract the attention of world community, the way Shaheed Afzal showed courage & character while kissing gallows should be followed in letter & siprit by every freedom lover & activist ,this also should serve eye opener to those who think freedom is not an achievable goal.

Shabir sahib condemned the continued arrest of shabir shah & nayeem khan.

Afzal Guru hanged to force Kashmiris to accept India, says Inqilabi

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: Chief Patron Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA) Muhammad Azam Inqilabi Monday expressed concern over increase in anti-Kashmir actions of Delhi darbar.

In a statement here, Inqilabi said Indian imperialists have stepped-up an offensive on Kashmiris.

They (Indian government) hanged Afzal Guru so as to force Kashmiris into submission. But arrogant Indian leaders should understand that what else have they achieved other than martyring one lakh Kashmiris, he said.

MeA patron said Kashmiris on either side of Loc hate Indian occupation and there is deep seated alienation against its rule.

He said alienation among Kashmir youth will erupt like a volcano and Indian guns wont be able to stop the tide then.

Inqilabi said India has broken all records of Pharaon, Namrood, Chengiz and Halaku in Kashmir.

Indian government has started tightening noose around pro-resistance leadership. Be it Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan, Dr. Qasim, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Masarat Aalam− they all are identity of this nation.

MeA patron extended his support to the United Advisory Council .

It is a welcome step. Pro-freedom leadership has formed the advisory council to seek mortal remains of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat and about other issues related to movement, we will support their programs, he said.

We have reposed trust on Allah and we will continue our struggle till the objective of right of self-determination is realized, he added.

Inqilabi appealed pro-India politicians in Kashmir to shun electoral politics and join the ranks of freedom struggle. This will be a clear message to Delhi liege lords that they are not sincere. They promised plebiscite in Kashmir and later brazenly reneged on their promise.

He also appealed Pakistani leadership that besides extending moral support to Kashmir cause keep in mind the green agricultural land of theirs as well as India is aiming to turn them into a barren land by diverting Kashmir rivers.

He said OIC should form a group of experts to analyze the expansionist policies of India.

APHC-AJK concerend over increasing HR violations in OSJK

Islamabad, MTT News Desk: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has expressed serious concern over increasing human rights violations by Indian armed forces in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK).

The APHC-AJK at a meeting in Islamabad with its Convener, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, in the chair, condemned the opening of old cases against APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, and other Hurriyat leader.

The participants of the meeting denouncing the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and activists in the occupied territory appealed to the world human rights organisations to take cognisance of the matter.

They maintained that India would not succeed to suppress the Kashmiris ongoing liberation struggle by resorting to repressive tactics. They also said that the genuine Kashmiri leadership should be included in the talks between Pakistan and India to make the dialogue process meaningful and result-oriented.

The meeting was attended by Syed Yousuf Naseem, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Abdul Majeed Malik, Abdul Hameed Lone, Muzaffar Hussain Shah and Khadim Hussain.

India must withdraw its army from OSJK, says Habib Yousafzai

Islamabad, MTT News Desk: Both the Kashmiri and Sikh Diasporas carried out a protest on January 27, 2013, outside Pearson Convention Center Brampton, Canada to send a strong message to the India’s Consulate General who was present. Inside, the Consulate General of India, along with the Indian community, were celebrating Indias 64th Republic day.

While they were celebrating, the Indian community forgot that the constitution was rejected by the Sikh Parliamentarians in Indian parliament because the Sikh Homeland Punjab (Khalistan) was merged into the Indian union forcefully, without any vote for the right to self-determination or referendum. Besides, when the draft was developed, Sikhs were deprived of their identity and were homogenized as long haired Hindus. More than six decades after this event, 270,000 Sikhs have been mercilessly killed and their religious centers including The Darbar Sahib Complex, Amritsar, also mistakenly known Golden Temple Complex, was desecrated and destroyed in an ‘undeclared’ war on the Sikh Nation. This took place in the form of the brutal military “Operation Bluestar” of June 1984. The Indian government has ignored the reality that Punjab had been the sovereign territory of the Sikhs for centuries (1799 to 14th March, 1849) and, the Sikhs have been “Struggling to regain their lost sovereignty since 14th March, 1849, under the guidance of the teachings of their Respected Guru Sahebaans, inscribed in the Blissful Guru Granth Sahib. The Brahmins-Hindus’ masters of Indian Congress have wiped off the map the sovereign Sikh Homeland Punjab (Khalistan) as well as Sikh Nation, the First Sovereign and Secular nation of the South Asian region.

Similarly, India occupied Manwadar, Junagarah, Hyderabad, and on October 27, 1947, forty two thousand square miles of the state of Jammu and Kashmir while enslaving its people. Kashmir is a state predominantly inhabited by Muslims. Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India took the matter to the United Nations which passed a resolution that the fate of the state of Jammu and Kashmir should be decided by plebiscite. To this day the Indian government is using false pretenses in order to avoid plebiscite which would have the destiny of the state decided by the democratic wishes of its citizens. In over six decades, the Indian government has killed over 200,000 citizens in the state and there is not one day that goes by in which the Indian government forgoes all its means in order to suppress the populace from their right of self determination and ultimate freedom.

The Indian government which is an illegal occupier is strategically trying to dictate the terms of settlement of this issue. It is arguing that for a plebiscite to take place that Pakistan should withdraw its forces from Azad Kashmir despite the fact that the entire state was to accede to Pakistan and is legally the territory of Pakistan. Thus, we can see how India as an occupier is attempting ignore the fact that it is the occupier and diverting the onus to the Pakistani state. This argument is extremely flawed as the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir and its citizens are Pakistani territory and citizens respectively. India is vehemently arguing this stance as a means to complicate the simple issue of plebiscite that must take place. Its stand exposes the mass hypocrisy and democratic deficit in the Indian state. To put into context, this argument is synonymous with Pakistan invading half of Delhi and six decades later propagating to the international community that India should withdraw from the other half in order to administer a plebiscite on the ground. In reality, the Indian state should have sanctions placed on it for behaving as a rogue state in the international system and should compensate the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir and the Pakistan state for the massive material and human rights costs that it has caused.

The legitimacy of Indian democracy

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: The independence day of India is a black day for Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, and other minorities in India. Out of the numerous examples of extremist acts, a few of them are listed below.

At present, all minorities in India – Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs – are threatened by the government and by the Shiv Sena, R.S.S.; BJP and the congress party, Hindu extremist groups supported by the government. As the Sikh Holy Shrine was destroyed under the rule of Indira Gandhi, the Holy Muslim shrine, the Babri Musjid, was destroyed under the leadership of the former home minister L.K. Advani.

There is no record of those who were killed during the attack, as no death certificates were issued. Dead bodies and those of the wounded were thrown into dirty refuge trucks and a mass cremation was held, of which the victims families had no knowledge of. Another example of the hostility minorities in India must face every day is that of Graham Stan, an Australian Christian missionary and his two children who were burnt alive in their car by Hindu extremists because they were not Hindu.

These Hindu extremists who were back by the Indian government, watched the burning car with joy and clapped as the car and its innocent occupants went up in flames. A more recent event that had shocked the Christian community in India was the headless body of Ude Barik, a Christian priest, was found in the village of Muni Gureu in the state of Orissa and hundreds churches were burnt down in Orissa and other parts of the country.

Even to this day; these types of ridiculous and senseless acts of violence are occurring, whether it be killings in police custody or rape of innocent women and girls, all under this corrupt Indian government. These examples of atrocities against the minority groups in India are just a few of many, however, they do provide us with substantiated proof that minorities are not safe in India.

Due to all the injustices that the minorities in India face, the United Front of Sikhs is committed to helping the Sikh people of India to establish their own state with peaceful resources. We ask for the Canadian government to step in and help eliminate the injustices facing Sikhs and all other minorities while still maintaining all the integrity and respect of the Canadian laws.

We make an appeal to the international community to take notice of the denial of human rights in India. We hope that with the help of the United Nations, Amnesty International, and Asia Watch, these tragedies will come to an end. In our attempt to help the minorities in India, we ask the Canadian government to stop all trade with India until the Indian government allows the United Nations, Amnesty International, and Asia Watch to freely enter India and investigate the human rights violations occurring throughout the country and set a date for referendum in Punjab and Kashmir.

India converting Muslim majority into minority in OSJK
