Geelani draws international attention towards detainess in OSJK

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), veteran Syed Ali Shah Geelani has urged International Red Cross and Amnesty international to take serious note of pathetic conditions of political detainees and impress upon India to shun its callous attitude towards them and provide them with basic necessities as per jail manual.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is also the President of Jammu & Kashmir Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH), was commenting on the High Court Bar Associations report on the plight of political prisoners in Jammu jails praised the HCBA role in the ongoing liberation movement.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that the lawyers had disclosed the pathetic condition of political prisoners in Jammu jails with sense and responsibility.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a statement said that India and its authorities in occupied Kashmir were subjecting the political prisoners to worst kind of atrocities and torture in jails.

Terming the details revealed by the Bar Association horrific Geelani said that report was an eye-opener for those who believe India is a great democracy.

Haling the members of Bar Association, Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that the Bar had always provided free legal advice and assistance to the detainees.

Another APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has said that pro-India politicians are the biggest hindrance in resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Nayeem Ahmad Khan in a statement issued in Srinagar said, The pro-India politicians talk of plebiscite in one week, autonomy in the other, Atoot Ang in the next and finally they end up on bowing before the tricolour.

He said that the politicians of autonomy and self-rule, to achieve their ends, damage the collective interest of the Kashmiris. The attitude of changing colours by the pro-India politicians from time to time has damaged the political strength of Kashmiri people and the role played by them leads to the agony of the people, he added.

The APHC leader said that activities of pro-India politicians could only pro-long the agonies of Kashmiri people but the movement would not get killed and the people of Kashmir would achieve their goal.
