Geelani concerned over Indian SC verdict over Amarnath road

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has termed directives of the Indian Supreme Court to the authorities for broadening passage to Amarnath Yatra as disappointing and said that the Indian government was hatching a big conspiracy by using judiciary.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is also the President of Jammu & Kashmir Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH) was addressing media men in Srinagar. He said that it was a matter of concern that the yatra was being given a communal colour by India to give practical shape to its evil designs.

Geelani said that the Indian authorities wanted to change the demography of Kashmir and Amarnath Shrine Board was being used as a launching pad.

Referring to the Indian SC ruling on the killing of pilgrims during Amarnath Yatra, the veteran leader questioned that if the apex court was concerned about death of yatris, then why it was silent over killing of innocent people in the Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK) and why it was not taking suo moto notice of human rights violations taking place in Kashmir?

Kashmir is not any Muslim-Hindu issue but a fight between oppressor and the oppressed. The authorities are trying to give it a different colour and portray it as a conflict between Hindus and Muslims. By doing so they are trying to deceive the international community, Geelani maintained.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that the Kashmiris were not against Amarnath yatra. We want affairs of the yatra be handled by the local people, who have been delivering the services for last 150 years, he maintained.

He also issued a pamphlet suggesting four-point proposal including handing of yatras management to Kashmiri Pandits, restricting yatra period to 15 days, limiting number of yatris and suspending plans for broadening and concretization of Amarnath road.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani appealed people of the territory to remain united and foil the sinister designs of enemies, who were trying to create divide them on sectarian lines.

He said the peace talks of the puppet administration were hollow, as they did not allow him to lead a peace march Srinagar. He castigated the puppet authorities for putting restrictions on his movement.

“There is no formal order from either the court or the government for my house arrest, but still police does not allow me to move out of my house,” Geelani added.
