Kashmiris staged protests against construction of bunkers by Indian army

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: In Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK), a large number of people staged protest demonstration at main chowk of Uri town against the construction of Indian army bunkers in Churunda village.

Hundreds of residents from the affected villages staged protests on Wednesday against construction of fresh posts by the Indian army.

They said that the construction of forward posts in Churunda village along the Line of Control (LoC) was the main cause of mounting tension in the area.

The residents including women and children demanded that the troops should immediately stop the construction of bunkers.

Mohammad Mutwali Deedar, numberdar of village Churanda, said the 9 Maratha of Indian army was building some new bunkers near the Line of Control (LoC) to which Pakistani Army had already objected. However, the Indian Army went on with the work, Deedar said.

Ghulam Rasool, another resident of the village, said that Pakistan Army had been warning their counterparts on this side for many days but Indian army who are deployed in the village, continued the work in civilian clothes.

Pakistani troops even used loud speakers to convey their message but Indian army didnt pay any heed, he added.

Another aggrieved resident of Churunda village said that the ceasefire agreement of 2003 between the two countries had brought cheers on the faces of locals of the area.

However, situation now seems so dangerous for the people of Churunda village that they are thinking of migration.

The residents said that they would be forced to go for mass migration if the construction of bunkers was not stopped.

Meanwhile, scores of people staged protest against anti-people policies of puppet regime in Maulana Azad, Maisuma, Budshah Chowk, Lal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk and Residency Road in Srinagar.
