India prolonging illegal detention of Kashmiri leadersSrinagar, MTT News Desk: The APHC chairman and the President of Jammu & Kashmir Tahreek e Hurriyat (TeH), Syed Ali Shah Geelani has said that the Indian authorities are prolonging the illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists to suppress Kashmiris’ movement for securing the right of Self-Determination.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani visited the residence of illegally detained liberation leader, Abdul Aziz Dar at Saida Kadal and enquired about the health of his ailing mother.

“Abdul Aziz Dar has spent almost 20 years in jail during which he passed through several personal losses like martyrdom of his father Maulana Muhammad Siddique and now his mother is also on death bed. The jail authorities are delaying his release. One of his brothers was also martyred during the ongoing freedom struggle. He himself is an embodiment of sacrifices and firm determination,” Geelani said.

Geelani also said that another illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi continued to be in jail for years despite the fact that the court had ordered his release.
