Geelani Concerned over arrests of Hurriyat LeadersSrinagar, December 10, 2010: All Parties hurriyat Conference Chairman (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani, has expressed concern over the illegal detentions of Hurriyat leaders and activists by Indian authorities in Occupied State of Jammu & Kashmir (OSJK).

Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Indian armed forces had unleashed a vigorous drive of arrests against pro-freedom people across the occupied Valley.

Reacting sharply to the arrest of Raja Begum, an old-aged widow of Sopore, the APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani had said that Indian armed forces had razed her house to ground before arresting her. He showed concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained Kashmiri leaders and activists.

Geelani said that the Kashmiri detainees had been denied basic facilities in the jails and treated like convicted criminals.
